Us here at Alex Mitchell entered our steak, cheese and haggis burger in to the Scottish craft butchers competition.

Myself and Chelsea attended our regional meeting last night and were presented with the GOLD award.

We are both over the moon with the result.

This is an exciting career opportunity based at our shop in the Glamis Centre, Pitteuchar. You will be joining a dedicated, committed team here at Alex Mitchell, as we the serve the local community, keeping our core values of Quality, Convenience and Customer Service in mind.

Postion will be 5 days a week and hours will be discussed at interview

Hourly Rate:To be discussed at interview based on experience

Who is our ideal candidate?

Someone with good work ethics, team player, enthusiastic, self motivated, work under pressure (fast paced), meet deadlines, excellent communicator, excellent hand-eye coordination, willing to learn and develop new skills and have excellent customer service skills.

What will the job involve?
Full carcass breakdown of lamb cows and pigs
Sausage and puddings production
Cabinet set up
Preparation of online and shop orders
Preparing, trimming, weighing up meat;
Cutting and boning of carcasses
Packaging and storage of meat.

Advise customers re meat cuts, cooking guidance and storage

Keeping the working environment safe and storing meat in accordance with health and safety legislation.

Negotiating and confirming orders with suppliers.

Adhering to food safety and hygiene measures.

Qualifications Required:

SVQ Level 2 in Meat and Poultry
Processing Knowledge of meat cuts and animal anatomy
Understanding the different parts of a carcass and how to properly cut them.
Knife skills: Expertise in using various knives to precisely cut meat.

Food safety and hygiene practices: Awareness of proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination.

Physical strength and dexterity: Ability to handle heavy cuts of meat and perform precise movements with knives.

The role is task driven which requires organisation, planning and goal setting. You will also be required to follow recipes to ensure product quality.

Other tasks include assisting in cleaning, training will be given. Also adhere to all Health and Safety and Hygiene procedures.
