ECLIPSE - A MOMENT BETWEEN WORLDS
For healers and spiritual practitioners in many ancient traditions, an eclipse was far more than an astronomical event.
It was a moment when the familiar order of the heavens appeared to change - when light disappeared, shadows moved across the Earth, and the boundary between the ordinary and the mysterious seemed unusually thin.
Such moments were often regarded as times of heightened spiritual significance. Healers, shamans and medicine people might withdraw into prayer, contemplation or ritual, believing that an eclipse offered an opportunity to release what was no longer needed and to prepare for renewal.
The temporary darkness could become a powerful symbol of healing itself. Illness, grief and suffering were not necessarily seen as endings, but as passages through shadow - just as the Sun or Moon disappeared - only to return again.
An eclipse therefore carried a simple but profound message: darkness can pass without destroying the light.
For the healer, it could be a reminder that transformation sometimes begins in darkness. The old is allowed to fall away, stillness descends, and when the light returns, the world - and perhaps the person seeking healing - may be seen with different eyes.
“The healer does not fear the eclipse, for they know that even when the light is hidden, it has never ceased to shine.”
