There’s something about autumn that makes slowing down feel a little easier.

The mornings get cooler, evenings draw in and suddenly spending a few hours learning something new, moving your body, making something with your hands or simply sitting around a table together feels exactly right.
And there’s plenty of that coming up at Peterley.

Think mornings of yoga followed by seasonal brunch, sauna and cold plunges after a run around the farm, evenings learning the art of sausage making, autumnal buttercream piping and a relaxed morning talking money over coffee and cake.

There are half-term traditions to look forward to too, from pumpkin picking to Little Farmers and ceramic pumpkin painting, plus plenty more happening across the farm as we settle into the season.

Consider this your autumn diary reminder.

In just four weeks, it’ll officially be pumpkin season at Peterley. 🎃

Save the date: the patch opens Saturday 3rd October.

This year, expect thousands of homegrown pumpkins in every shape and size, autumn photo moments throughout the patch, brilliant street food pop-ups, face painting and plenty more across selected weekends and half-term.

The pumpkin patch is completely free to enter and there’s no need to book. Simply turn up, grab a wheelbarrow and find your perfect pumpkins.

And for little ones wanting even more autumn fun, Little Farmers: Autumn Edition and our ceramic pumpkin painting sessions are both available to book now via the link in bio.

Four weeks and counting… 🍂

Healthy food doesn’t begin in the kitchen. It begins beneath our feet.

The more we learn about healthy soil, the more fascinating the connections become. Living soil supports stronger plants, seasonal growing reconnects us with where our food comes from, and the conversation doesn’t stop at harvest; it reaches all the way to our gut health too.

These are ideas we care deeply about at Peterley, both in our Kitchen Garden and on our tables.

If you’d like to explore them further, we’re hosting two September events that follow the same thread:
* 12 September: No-Dig & Regenerative Gardening – a hands-on morning with Sam in the Kitchen Garden, followed by a seasonal lunch.
* 25 September: Soil to Gut with Dr Lucy Williamson – an inspiring conversation on healthy soil, food and gut health, plus a homegrown lunch.

Come curious. Leave seeing your food a little differently.

Book via the link in bio.

Turns out, one post wasn’t quite enough to cover the realities of running a farm shop.

So, welcome to part two of the slightly unhinged things that somehow form part of the working day at Peterley.

Answering emails at 11pm because apparently that’s when the inbox gets tackled. Setting a 3am alarm to turn on the hog roast. Bringing home the out-of-date food because throwing it away is simply not an option. And, after years of doing all of the above, still not being entirely sure how to answer when someone asks, “So, what exactly do you do?”

Behind the shelves, café lunches, events and seasonal displays is a family business where everyone mucks in, plans regularly change and the working day doesn’t always respect conventional working hours.

Consider this another little glimpse behind the scenes at what it really takes to keep Peterley ticking along.

At this rate, there may well be a part three…

Some chefs have a walk-in pantry. Ours just happens to include a Kitchen Garden, Farm Shop, Deli and Butchery.

We’re looking for a Café & Production Kitchen Chef to join our team here at Peterley.

Working across the Barn Kitchen and Production Kitchen to turn brilliant seasonal ingredients into everything from breakfast and lunch dishes to homemade cakes, bakes, salads and deli favourites.

It’s a varied, hands-on role for someone who loves good food, enjoys working with the seasons and likes the idea of cooking surrounded by the Chiltern Hills. One of the biggest perks? Predominantly sociable daytime hours. A chef role where you can do what you love, work with genuinely good ingredients and still have your evenings.

And yes, popping out to the Kitchen Garden for fresh herbs really can be part of the job.

If this sounds like your kind of kitchen, you’ll find all the details on our Work For Us page via the link in bio, including how to apply.

A new way to move is coming to the farm.

From next week, RØAM will be taking over our Bootcamp sessions, giving you a first taste of their training, coaching and community before the doors officially open.
Use code ‘ROAMFREE’ for a free drop-in session, or use your existing class credits to book.

Then, over the Bank Holiday weekend (29th–31st), RØAM will be hosting a free opening weekend, with sessions at 9am and 10am each day.

Booking is free, but spaces are limited. Please book these through the RØAM website.

Come and see what RØAM is all about.

September is shaping up rather nicely at Peterley.

As summer begins to soften into autumn, there’s a new season of things to gather for on the farm. Mornings spent learning in the Kitchen Garden, evenings around the table, time to move, slow down, taste something new and meet the people behind it all.

Join us for no-dig gardening with Sam, coffee and chocolate tasting with Origin and Rumsey’s, English w**e and seafood around the fire, meditation and mindfulness, or a lunchtime conversation with Dr Lucy Williamson exploring the journey from soil to gut.

September also sees RØAM open the doors to its new home in the Dutch Barn, before we head into full autumn mode with pumpkin picking and Little Farmers — and, dare we say it, the first signs of Christmas on the horizon.

Consider this your diary reminder.
