We need your help, Great Paxton!

Thanks to funding from the Coton Wind Farm Community Fund we’re trialling extended opening hours at the village shop:

⏰ 8–10am
⏰ 5–7pm

But for this to work, we really need to know what you would actually buy during those times.

We already offer and lunch meal deals for people heading to work — but what would make you pop in on the way home?

Some ideas we’re considering:

Friday night “fakeaway” Indian meal bags
(think curry, naan, rice, pudding and maybe even wine — ready to heat at home like the supermarket meal deals)

Frozen pizza night deals
Goodfellas pizza, chips and pudding for an easy tea

Fresh bread and milk top-ups

Wine & snack bundles for Friday nights

Cheese boards / picky tea bundles

Ready meals for busy families

Evening sweet treats & desserts

Family Fun Day!!!

The shop will be open all day…pop in for sun cream, after sun, bite spray.

We also have a lot of ice creams in our freezer!

Inside, you’ll find 2 Jumbo Lincolnshire Sausages, 2 Pork & Apple Burgers, and 2 Char Siu Pork Ribs — a combination that brings together traditional British taste with a hint of sweet and sticky Asian-inspired flavour. Urgent!!

Great Paxton Village Shop is not just a shop. It is the heartbeat of our village.

It’s where people pick up essentials, where neighbours meet, where families rely on convenience that keeps daily life going. Without it, life here would be harder, more isolated, and for some, completely different.

A village is only truly a village when it has its core amenities – a shop, a school, a pub, a church, and places like Perky Beans. These aren’t extras. They are what hold a community together.

This shop is run by volunteers – people giving their time so everyone else can benefit. But we are now at a critical point.

We urgently need more volunteers to step forward.

Even a small amount of your time can make a huge difference. Just a few hours can help keep this vital lifeline open for everyone.
