When Carrie from our Pudsey store spotted an elderly customer getting upset and looking confused at the checkouts she immediately stepped in to help.
The lady, who's in her 80s, couldn't find her purse, couldn’t remember who she had come with, where she lived, and had no ID or phone with her. Carrie decided to pay for her shopping while trying to work out how best to help her. After talking to her for a while and trying in vain to find out her address, Carrie was about to raise the alarm when the lady's son came rushing in – he'd been frantically searching for her in nearby shops. He was extremely grateful and reimbursed Carrie for the shopping.
Carrie said: "I just wanted to help her as I just care about everybody. She was a lovely lady, bless her, very happy and smiley." Store manager Gary said: "This is a fantastic example of putting our customers first and living our values every day. The lady's son was deeply appreciative of the care and support Carrie had shown. She's a real credit to the team."
