We shout about local businesses all the time whether it’s our own family company or anyone else’s for that matter. Christmas especially can be make or break for a small independent shop.
There’s still time, next time you are in the supermarket, to put one item back on the shelf (at least!) and buy it locally from a small indy business instead.
Meat, cheese, fruit & veg, booze, fish and gifts: Just stop and think that you could buy it from a smaller family business instead. Smaller limited companies offer BETTER QUALITY AND BETTER SERVICE 100%. They pride themselves on it. They have a passion and desire for their industry and their place within it. It’s their life. It consumes their every minute of thinking and being. They get things wrong and it eats away. They then strive to put it right. Social media trolls don’t help at all.
There is always the issue of price. Yes supermarkets can do loss leaders especially this time of year. Aldi has veg for under 10p! However prices can be just as competitive as the huge chains. Go on, don’t be like Trevor, take the challenge: Swop a supermarket product for an independent suppliers item. Remember a lot of small companies can offer delivery services too.
Keep the money within your town. It all makes for a better place to live and work. Over to you… ###
