It's that small window of time when elderflowers are ready to pick! It only lasts about 3 weeks each year. Too early and the flowers are tightly closed and don't release their flavour; too late and the flowers are turning brown and falling to the ground. I have 14 bottles for sale at the moment, and they usually sell out quickly! £3.95 each, collection from Stoughton GU2.

I just love to see all the beautiful blossom this time of year! And of course, where there is blosssom, there will be fruit - cherries, plums, pears, apples, and sloes. I'm thinking of planting a fig tree in my garden this year. Any thoughts?

It is such a joy to see these little pots of jam set out for guests to take home with them after the wedding. The bride and groom chose sweet chili jam and lavender jelly as options. Which one would you have picked?

As a very small business owner, cash is vital. Selling jam in a field at a summer fair, or chutney at a Christmas fair in a village hall with no signal, cash is the only way. Card payments take a little bit of my small margin in every transaction. Can you imagine if we no longer used cash, not even for children's pocket money, anonymous charity donations, or birthday gifts?
