Local food advocate since March 2020. We sell fresh meat locally sourced were possible, produce and groceries.

As many local products as we can possibly squeeze in!

Great to visit the RP meats open day today and be given a full tour of their premises, including their fridges and freezers. It is useful for us to learn how all parts the chain operate and see how the operations are managed at scale. This is a business that has worked hard to grow considerably over the last few years and they haven't stopped yet.

RP are one of our providers that fill the gaps between our locally sourced meat deliveries and have been great at helping us build our wholesale side. Quality is great and they are always working hard to give us the best prices and source new high quality products.

We were well looked after today and also had the opportunity to speak to other butchery trade related businesses to see how they can assist us with ours.

Was definitely a useful way to spend a Sunday.

It's been a long time now since I had time to make our own black pudding, but no longer worried about that now I have found something better.

Fruit Pig make their black pudding the traditional way with fresh ingredients (a rare find these days) and the difference is amazing, as well as very tasty! 😋 They also have a Gluten-free version too.

These are in the counter now and we have spent the weekend at home sampling a couple of their other products too. More products incoming....

We are really sad that Lydd Farmers & Artisan Market has now come to a close. Over the years we have loved getting to know this lovely little community and our regular customers there. Other market traders have also become good friends and we will miss you all. However we have had 5 years of weekend markets now and hubby and I work very long hours the rest of the week and we will be grateful for the rest on Sundays. We had said to Ian, the market manager a few months back than when he steps back, so do we.

But, we know that our customers will miss us too and we do not wish to leave you in the lurch. Hence we are exploring the possibility of running a monthly delivery to Lydd one Saturday per month from September. This will be a preorder service only and it does depend on the number of people interested. If you would be interested please leave a comment. More details to follow when we sort things out.

In the meantime for anyone heading west we will be very glad to see you in the shop. But halfway between us is Rye Farm Shop at Salts Farm who have regular deliveries of a range of our meat produce.

We are very grateful for all your support over the last few years and to Ian & Lou for running the market so well.

I really do have to say a huge thank you to my little team ❤️

The last few months have been rather challenging for us for a number of reasons (including a few weeks back being invaded by bees!) And every time they quietly rise to the challenge and get the job done. This morning was no exception as a overhead power issue in the area caused properties locally to receive very low voltage. Barely noticeable to most households at this time of year we couldn't operate any of our processing equipment or fridges for 3 hours, whilst maintaining light and scales. My meltdowns, while it feels like I am trying to juggle cats, are ignored and they crack on and the job gets done. Gary meanwhile on a day off (he managed to dodge bee plague too!) Sees the group messages and brings us all donuts 😋

I have faith in the fact that they will show up in the morning and get the job done.They do themselves, and I, proud on a regular basis and I have to say that I really do appreciate that.
