As we enter our final week Alex and I wanted to say…
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the huge support this fantastic community has shown for our little business.
It is just over 5 years since we took over from Bob and Yvonne. We feel we have achieved lots in that 5 years.
We felt quite overwhelmed initially as we first redesigned and refurbished the shop and then created a coffee house that has become a central hub. We had to learn very quickly how to run a business and become employers.
Being a constant presence has enabled us to get to know and love so many members of our community and this has been deeply precious to us. We have laughed ‘till we cried. We have cried. We have felt sadness and grief at the loss of fantastic folk. We have watched children grow and mature. We have welcomed new life and new members both new and old into the community. We have hugged and held the hand of folk navigating difficult times in their lives. We have managed various medical emergencies. We have made plenty of mistakes, but we have done somethings well.
It has been an honor and a pleasure, but now it is time to do something different and to hand over the reins to lovely Harriet. I am sure she can rely on your support as she learns and establishes herself.
One final thought. We live in such turbulent and divisive times. Our wonderful community is a diverse one. It is our strength. If we are kind, if we are respectful and we search for commonality instead of division, then we connect, we learn to value and support each other and we can live happily alongside each other.
