About Us

The Native Butcher was concocted by Richard Barter & Tara Vaughan when after many conversations about farming, food and health, a common theme became apparent ‘Respect’.

Respect for livestock they rear, respect for the environment we all share and respect for ourselves.

We believe that by rearing the traditional breeds in a traditional manner we can produce the best quality meat possible in a sustainable, affordable environmentally friendly and above all respectful way.

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to eat meat that has been ethically reared. Our meat will always taste the way that it should; we choose the best meat from British native breeds reared on our farms, free from growth hormones and of course cruelty free.
