Green shoots of spring are definitely emerging now, and this year instead of selling organic wild garlic plants, I'm harvesting the leaves for our soon-to-be-launched range of herb salts.
Wild garlic has a fantastic, punchy flavour - and drying in salt is a way of preserving that lovely flavour long past the spring window of opportunity when the plants are freshly in leaf.

These beautiful lumpy bumpy apples are an old Scottish variety called Scotch Bridget - grown by Myreside Organics in Meigle, Perthshire.
We've stored them all winter, and the last couple of trays are going into the latest batch of Beetroot & Apple Chutney - adding a lovely sweet sauciness to compliment the crunch of beetroot and the fiery ginger flavour.

Some of these old varieties were developed in the 19th century to suit the cool, damp Scottish climate and it's an interesting thought that they may become less suited to our conditions as climate patterns bring warmer, drier summers. Still plenty of moisture about at the moment though....

Rowan Jelly back in stock again at last - that distinctive flavour and lovely, rosy colour brightening up a very dreich week.

Traditionally served with roast meat, but also delicious with cheese, this jelly is made with wild rowanberries , organic apples and organic unrefined sugar.

A flavour from those distant , red-berry days of summer...

Merry Christmas to all our customers, suppliers and friends - and thank you all for making 2025 such a busy year, we really do appreciate it.
We're having a break over Christmas but will be back in action with new plans and new products in the New Year.

For cheese lovers, a delicious and unusual addition to your Christmas cheeseboard - our organic Quince Fruit Butter.

Similar to Spanish "Membrillo" which is traditionally served with cheese, this is cooked for a shorter time, giving a softer texture and a slightly fresher quince flavour and makes a spreadable, as opposed to slice-able fruit puree.

It's a great alternative to chutney for those who prefer a sweet rather than savoury accompaniment to cheese and charcuterie.

It's been a busy morning in the Huntly Herbs packing department, with parcels heading off in all directions including Skye in the north and Jersey in the south...and lots of places in between.
We use Royal Mail parcels, which keeps the postage costs down, especially for those who live in more remote postcodes.

Now it's just a question of keeping as much as possible in stock until the Christmas rush is over...so back to the kitchen to cook some more!

Back in stock in time for Christmas❄️ 🎄 organic Spiced Fruit Chutney with cinnamon and orange - delicious served with cheese or cold meats and a great choice for a Christmas cheeseboard.
This year's batch is made with plums and tomatillos, which gives just the right combination of sweet and tangy fruit flavours.

These sunny autumn days, and perhaps even the cold nights, have produced a second flush of ripe damsons with even more flavour than the first...harvest, cook and repeat, harvest, cook and repeat...

Damsons - my favourite harvest of the year, such a deliciously plummy flavour with a slight tartness which makes them a perfect fruit for jam. I think they're all the more special because we don't get a crop every year, especially if there are strong winds when the blossoms are setting their fruit in spring.
This year however, the weather has suited them very well and we've managed to get most of the fruit picked before the birds got to them - so Damson Jam is back in stock on our website, made with these organic damsons and as always, organic unrefined sugar. It's a smallish crop and there's not enough to wholesale, so for the moment it's only available online.
