"WILDGOOSE Fine Foods" - St. Stephen's Lane - Ipswich.

Wildgoose Fine Foods has a range of 40 kinds of cheese, local wines and beers along with other premium food and is now in its 4th year in Ipswich.
Caroline Blaydon opened Wildgoose Fine Foods in St. Stephen's Lane in Ipswich on December 5th 2020 just as lockdown had been lifted for the Christmas period.
“Originally we looked at this building in November 2019 with a view to having a cheese and fine foods store,” says Caroline, “but what was really attractive was the upstairs room with a vaulted ceiling – ideal for cheese and wine tasting evenings. We wanted to open in April but seeing the way the wind was blowing with Covid, put the brakes on. Coming out of lockdown we thought there was a real need for something artisanal like this in the town." Caroline had missed "Memorable Cheeses" which used to be in Dial Lane and thought that Ipswich needed a similar shop to replace it.
Wildgoose Fine Foods closed from January to April 2021 for the remaining lockdown period and people thought it was just a pop-up shop. Not an easy start.
It was tougher after reopening in April, and Caroline explained: "We had to remind people cheese is not just for Christmas. There are a lot of small independent products here. "
Well here we are in 2024 and Wildgoose Fine Foods is still here and has gone from strength to strength. A popular shop and a great addition to the Ipswich Independents.
Wildgoose Fine Foods have had lots of repeat customers who try Pinney's of Orford eels just once and want more. Its popularity has boomed thanks to the store stocking the product quite regularly.
Caroline said that their next most popular products are French goats cheese Jacquin and soft cheese Stinking Bishop from Gloucestershire.
