Just a look back at last weekend, and our third Open Farm Sunday….
We had an awesome day, the weather was great, and the yard was buzzing all day long!
Thank you to all of our exhibitors, those who brought livestock, machinery, and Land Rovers; and our 20 strong team of fantastic helpers.
I hope all of our visitors had a great day on the farm, Dad and I finished on 9 trailer tours each! I’ve just about got my voice back.
We’re very pleased to announce that we have raised over £2500 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance Charity! With thanks to all who supported our raffle, and The Wild Rabbit for sponsoring the event (therefore covering our costs), we are glad to be giving back to the service after needing them a few years ago.
We’re all packed away, and I’m looking forward to a weekend off!
We go again in 2028!

So in a week’s time, we look forward to welcoming all you to our third Holbrook Open Farm Sunday.
It promises to be a good day, with tractor and trailer farm tours, some local livestock, our shed of industry experts who can answer any question you may have, and plenty to keep the young ones occupied! All whilst fundraising for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

We are pleased to announce that on the 7th of June, we’ll be participating in Open Farm Sunday again!
This will be our third OFS event, and we’re looking forward to welcoming you back to Woodlands Farm for tractor and trailer tours to learn about what we are growing and how. We’ve also assembled our “shed of industry experts” who’ll be able to answer any question you may have about farming and food production.
It’s a whole family event, and there’s plenty of games and activities for children to have a go at. This year’s machinery display theme will be potato equipment, so learn about what goes into growing our spuds!
There’s plenty of food and drink available, the bbq and strawberries & cream will be going all day.
We’re raising money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance, so we charge the small amount of £3 per person to get in. We raised £3000+ last time!

The much anticipated announcement of new potatoes is here!
They’re not our own, but they’ve only travelled about two miles. These Maris Bard new potatoes are always popular for their outstanding flavour both hot and cold. They’re rather expensive for the first weekend of the season, but a guaranteed treat!
More local asparagus, and these wonderful bunches of carrots. Plenty of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, we’re even seeing the start of cherries this weekend!
Open all weekend, so be quick before they’re gone!

Morning all! It was market night last night, and unpacking this morning, it’s nice to see how rapidly British salad and fruit is becoming available.
So what’s good this weekend? There’s more asparagus, we sold out this week, plenty of strawbs, rhubarb out of our garden, the first British little gem lettuces. We’ve even got bunches of carrots and beetroot back in! And some tasty apricots too. Plenty of Cypriot new potatoes (ours aren’t far away!), and all the other good stuff.
If you come in to the yard and the shop door is shut, then it’ll be because the air-con is working inside, so always try the door! Have a lovely long weekend, and do call in if you’re out and about!

What’s good in the Potato Hut this weekend?
British asparagus is in full flow now, and we got plenty here in stock, and at two bundles for £6, it’ll fly out I’m sure!
Some lovely radishes, leafy celery, bunches of carrots in, big punnets of strawbs, and what might be the last of the purple sprouting. Majorcan new potatoes, raspberries, and plenty of the huge oranges!
So why not call in this weekend?!

What a lovely week it’s been out there! We’ve finally got some spuds planted, and some spring barley drilled too. We’re even up to date on spraying and fertiliser (yes, it’s been a long week😂😂).
It would be nice to have the weekend off, but the shop has been really busy just recently, and this weekend shouldn’t be an exception. We’ve got more of the popular local purple sprouting in, some huge heads of leafy celery, more Cypriot and Egyptian new potatoes, and the stone fruit is now starting to come through. Some great plums and nectarines this week.
We’ve got a few specials today and tomorrow, Spanish strawberries at £1.50/punnet, and the Egyptian new pots are just £1.50/bag too.
So come on down, I’m now stocking up, so there should be plenty of tasty fruit and veg waiting for you!

p.s, the photo below might not mean much to you, but it shows a destoner (removes stones and clods from the potato seed-bed), and me planting spuds behind, these a chipping variety called Sagitta!

Morning all,
Finally spring is here and things are waking up on the farm. This week has been fertiliser spreading, ploughing for the imminent spring drilling, and trying not to get stuck! Next week, all being well, potato planting and spring barley drilling should commence!
But what about in the shop, plenty of good bits in this weekend:
Local purple sprouting broccoli is looking lovely.
Big heads of leafy celery, they’ll probably only be here today!
Super juicy oranges.
Cypriot new potatoes (are expensive, but worth a treat!).
And some huge January king cabbages.
All the usuals in too, and what might be the last of the local cox’s apples until harvest. So come on down, there’ll be something you fancy!

Morning all,
Apologies we have been quiet on here. We’ve been busy muck spreading, cutting firewood, and grading potatoes for sale, all whilst battling with this weather! Unlike this beautiful frosty morning in January below!
So what’s good in the shop this weekend? There’s some local purple sprouting broccoli, Cypriot new potatoes, some banana shallots, several different cakes that Amanda’s trying, and I’ve found two more trays of walnuts that I’d squirrelled away from the autumn! All the other fruit and veg that you would expect, and plenty of spuds, onions, and eggs too. So do call in this weekend if you’re needing some supplies!
