Hi Friends, It’s been a long time since you heard from me but after the ending of Arthur Street Trading Company / arthursorganics I’ve been busy working with lots of the regulars who helped out in the walled garden and together we now run the Rise Walled Garden Charity. Please check out our website for further info, or better still come for a visit on any Monday. Guy and myself have also been slowly and quietly growing some Christmas trees in the areas of the walled garden not run by the charity. Whilst the garden is no longer certified as organic by the Soil Association, and therefore we can't market our trees as organic, we have stuck to our foundational values and grown them following organic methods and as such have used no environmentally harmful chemicals. Our main crop of Nordman Firs has turned out to be the slowest growing species and still requires another couple of years before they are large enough. We do have a small number of Douglas Firs that are ready and whilst they aren't a commonly used species in Britain, they are one of the most popular Christmas tree varieties in the United States. They hold their needles well and have a wonderful fragrance. The Douglas Firs are perhaps not the most symmetrical of trees but please bear in mind that at Christmas even slightly wonky trees need love. We hope that you can find a place in your homes and your hearts for one of our locally grown, ultra fresh, fragrant low impact trees. The trees are still growing so you need to pop to the walled garden, select a tree that tugs at your heart strings, we cut it for you and then you pay the bargain price of £25. Graham or Guy will be at the walled garden on the following dates from 10am to dark; November - Sat 29th and Sun 30th; December - Sat 6th, 13th and 20th, and Sun 7th, 14th and 21st Any enquiries, questions and for further info please feel free to call Graham on 07949805695 or Guy on 07717323077 ….or just turn up, but please wear suitable gear….. All the best, Graham.
