Now the lambs are grazing much more they need the additional minerals to keep everything in balance.
These two beauties had just been munching this ‘Hi energy’ mineral bucket from Northern Nutrition Minerals and aren’t they doing well on it.
They are 6 week old twins, had nothing but mum’s milk & rough grazing.

Sheep jobs really are never ending!
Obviously the madness of lambing wasn’t long ago and we’ve pretty much had to gather them all in every week since for one job or another.
All lambs have had their 1st vaccinations. They all need a booster jab next week.
We gathered them all in last week to treat some with lame feet, as if left untreated, is very painful for the sheep/lamb & contagious.
We were hoping not to have to gather them in this week, but we spotted some of the lambs were mucky & actually saw 1 lamb with a visible tape worm. Therefore all needed worming quite urgently. If left, the lambs lose condition rapidly. So we didn’t want to risk leaving them another week until they are due their 2nd vaccination.
At least it was a pleasant sunny day, nothing else I’d rather be doing 🤔

A few weeks ago we had a visit from the “Grubs up” project looking at helping to create habitats for wildlife, particularly insects & invertebrates.
Holly was over the moon with all the plant species we have on our farm. They are just here, thriving due to our current farming methods. We aren’t doing anything special, just farming in a traditional way. It doesn’t need fancy labels like ‘regenerative’ or ‘rewilding’ we aren’t really trying to do either of these.
We simply have low numbers of livestock, a low input system & farm traditionally.
We have both cows & sheep that graze in different ways & rotate stock round the fields to suit the livestock & land.
I’m no expert, but Holly was very pleased to see these plants in abundance in various fields.
Stitch wort
Yellow rattle
Kipper nut
Sorrel
Birds foot trefoil
Cuckoo flower
(I didn’t photo them all as I couldn’t keep up!)

Farmer Isabelle was in charge of holding this lamb for me.
The lamb had a lame foot & needed treatment, while I was getting what I needed, she held onto the lamb to avoid having to catch it again. Saving time & stress for the lamb.
Great work Isabelle.

Jelly’s Physio sessions are starting to pay off.
It’s been a long slog & there’s still a long way to go.
She’s gone from being completely paralysed in her back legs, no bladder or bowel control, not even a pain response.
To doing these rather clumsy steps, but steps no less!
She’s making very slow but steady progress.
Not sure if she’ll make a full recovery, but definitely can’t give up on her now.
We’ll just keep encouraging her to do these slow steps. When she’s focussed on food, she does seem to be able to position her feet quite well.
But unfortunately she does tend to try & rush and ends up wobbling over or the other lambs get in her way.
Come on Jelly 💪🏼

We haven’t had a Lil update in a while. She’s doing great.
Started growing like no tomorrow, once we took Phil off & mum was just feeding one lamb.
The weather has been great for grass growing, so no longer need to give these sheep any extra feed anymore.
This group were the ones that were needing a bit of help to get going for one reason & another. But all doing fab now.

2 minutes from mince to delicious burger in a bun.
Literally nothing but mince rolled into a ball. Squashed flat & Rich sprinkled salt & pepper on. A splash of water. Some cheese on top to melt.
Summer in a nutshell. 👌🏼
(Production did speed up, as he started to do 2 at a time.)
