It is the Christmas Market Weekend this weekend, and this year I am sending out an unashamed plea to please visit the local shops too...

Please come and enjoy the festive atmosphere of the market, but also pop into the neighbouring shops, cafes and pubs and check out their offer as well.

This weekend is about so much more than the market - it's the start of the Christmas season for everyone, and all our independent businesses have been working tirelessly in the run up to December (and this weekend in particular) ready to welcome everyone to our fabulous town.

Each of these businesses has a hard working, dedicated human behind the counter and they would love to see you!

As Kate of said - they don't bite, you don't even have to buy anything if you don't see anything you like, just come and see what they have to offer, and you might find something you weren't expecting! Have a conversation, get a recommendation, find out about another business that may have the thing you're looking for.

As for us at Number Thirteen...we would definitely love to see you all...our cake counters will be stuffed, our coffee beans stocked to the ceiling, our cookbooks piled high.

Fingers crossed, if the weather is dry, we will also have our outside seating area set up, with blankets and hot water bottles too!

If you want something hot we are also serving homemade soup.
Roast beef with homemade onion gravy sandwich.
