Good Morning from a rather blustery and chilly Somerset.

I promise you it really is the 9th of June and not March!

However never fear, they tell me on good authority that by the weekend we will be back to blue skies and summer sun which will be perfect for our SMOKERY OPEN DAY. It is from 10am-4pm on Saturday, where we will have all our wares for you to taste and decide which your favourites are. Then with a complementary glass of wine in hand you can have a tour of the smokery itself and see how we do what we do before refuelling in the restaurant with breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. We would love to see you!

This week also marks the end of the Asparagus season so make the most of it and why not order one of our delicious Asparagus boxes for delivery to your fridge or to some well deserving chum who needs a gastronomic hug? A reminder of what is in it is below

Good morning, I write from Cornwall from where I am returning later today but I have just had a FaceTime call with Bertie, Mrs P and Stan who are in charge at The Smokery and have been extending the cold smokers, emptying them of Brie, stilton, halloumi and feta and reloading them with beautiful sides of salmon. They have sent me a video and images and I have given them my approval! Mrs P did suggest that I could not have sounded more patronising if I had tried so unless I was in any doubt at all I have been firmly put back in my place and assured once again that everything runs beautifully smoothly without me and as Stan, and a good many before him, pointed out “probably better”!

We have had a busy week at The Smokery and are fully gearing up for our SMOKERY OPEN DAY which is on this Saturday coming! If you can make it you will be in for a treat as we are having tastings of all our products where Mrs P and Amber will greet you with a free glass of wine and answer any questions you may have like to ask. Tim and I will then give guided tours of the smokers themselves all day from 10am until 4pm and the shop will be loaded to the gunnels for you then to shop until to you drop. The café will be serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea throughout and we would love to see as many of you as can make it.

It may surprise you to know that two weeks today is apparently Father’s Day and in order to celebrate all us permanently exhausted and harassed chaps we have come up with a FATHERS DAY GIFT BOX it’s a little bit different to our usual offerings and we think/hope it will be a perfect gift for any Fathers, Stepfathers, Grandfathers or indeed Godfathers that you may think deserve such a treat. Good Morning and welcome to the middle of the week!
They tell me that we are in for a bit of a soaking over the next few days? But we are determined to be jolly and sunny in spirit here at least, and anyway, as anyone will tell you “we need the rain”.

Our Smokery Open Day is filling up fast but we do still have a few tables left so why not come and see us and sample all our goodies, with a free glass of wine in hand and have a tour of the Smokery itself and see how we do what we do?

Good morning from a slightly weary and brilliantly busy weekend for us here at Pattisson Towers! Yesterday was my eldest sister Rebecca’s wedding and we had a lovely day feasting drinking and making very merry with her and Jason. It was perfect and the marquee in their garden was amazing and from somewhere back in days gone by with real wooden poles and canvas and was honestly like being back in the pages of ‘The Darling Buds of May’ by HE Bates and dear Dad would have loved it as it was one of his most read books. The alarms rang long and hard very early this morning as today is the 80th birthday of my mother-in-law the brilliant Biddy and we are off (even Nancy is home from uni) to have a long sunny day lunch with all the siblings and cousins and the odd mad Jack Russell to spend the day in her garden and have another gluttonous day of fun and celebration. In all honesty I am quite looking forward to tomorrow morning and having a kip at my desk!

Bert is downstairs loading the smokers with sides of salmon as I write and we are looking forward to what we hope is a slightly cooler week than last as in all honesty there were moments when I feared for Tim’s sanity whilst smoking over the open fire at what must have been approaching 40 plus degrees! Anyway we are still wonderfully busy and have all sorts of deliciousness in stock and ready to send to you or any well deserving friends you might have. We are of course moving into the last week of asparagus season so don’t forget our Asparagus Box or to just add a bundle to any orders you are placing. Here is a reminder of the Asparagus box:-

Join us at the Smokery for our next Open Day on Saturday 13th June, from 10am to 4pm.

The amazing weather continues for another day or so and on that basis we won’t be sending any orders until tomorrow when the temperatures are due to drop back nearer to normal!
