BARWICK MAYPOLE FESTIVAL – ROAD CLOSURES 26th MAY

Barwick Maypole Trust will be closing the roads in the centre of the village for the duration of the Maypole Festival.

Road closures will be in place from 8am until 6pm. During the Maypole Queen’s Procession (between 1-1:30pm) the closures will be temporarily extended as far as the Village Hall to accommodate the route.

For anyone within the road closure area wanting to use their car during the day we recommend they park on Jack Heaps’ Field (or elsewhere in the village) prior to 8am.

The Procession will convene on Chapel Lane and go the full length of Main Street so we'd really like it if all cars could be removed from along the route to make sure our floats can get through and that spectators can see what’s happening.

We will, of course, allow access to emergency vehicles. We’ll also be able to allow access to anyone providing vital care, but would ask that this is arranged outside the time of the maypole raising (10am-12pm), the Procession (1pm-1:40pm) and the maypole climb (5pm-6pm).

Speak to anyone wearing a ‘Maypole Crew’ hi-vis vest or Maypole Trust rosette if you need any help on the day.

We are looking forward to seeing all on Monday 26th May for the raising of the Maypole. It starts around 10am with the Maypole climber 🤞 in the afternoon. Plenty to keep you all entertained in between.
