Look at these amazing photos from the Yorkshire Evening Post Archive ❤️ Thank you for sharing these wonderful glimpses into the past.
Long before there was a supermarket on every corner, before online shopping and 24-hour shopping, markets were at the heart of everyday life.
And you know what?
We’re still here.❤️
We’ve been through World Wars, fires, huge changes in the city and even COVID — and through it all, Leeds Markets has continued to adapt, survive and remain resilient.
No, it isn’t like it used to be… and that’s OK. Markets, like everything else, have to change, evolve and move with the times.
But one thing hasn’t changed — we’re still fiercely independent and supporting local traders ❤️
Our amazing independent traders work incredibly hard, bringing something different to the city, and yes, they deserve a day off too! That’s why we close on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Different? Absolutely.
Changing? Always.
Still here? Absolutely!
Still fiercely independent.
Still supporting local traders.
Still serving the people of Leeds.
And still proud of our amazing markets. ❤️
Here’s to the past, the present and the future of Leeds Markets 🥰
