Craig from our Blyth Cowpen Road supermarket came to the rescue when a customer dropped her car keys down a storm drain in the car park.
With the help of two colleagues who shone torches, Craig at first used a metal rod to try to pick up the keys to the Seat Leon. When that failed he lifted the drain cover up, rolled up his sleeve, lay flat on the ground and stuck his arm down the drain, feeling around until he eventually found them. He said: "There was a lot of mud, stones and old cans down there but thankfully I got the keys. They needed a good clean, but they still worked. The lady was extremely grateful as she was panicking a bit when she came in and told us what had happened. She was just closing her car boot when they fell out of her hand and down the drain." Craig was nominated for an Asda service superstar award by service section leader Danielle, who said: "We are so glad Craig managed to retrieve her keys. The customer was very thankful."
