July is my business birthday month - it’s 12 whole years since I pimped my pram and headed out with my Friday Food Deliveries.
It was a business designed to work around our daughter’s prolonged treatment protocol for Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, which she successfully completed in January 2015, two and a half years after being diagnosed in the autumn of 2012.
My business today is a crazy creature, a direct product of my flight response to the stress of living through years of paediatric oncology- wherever my mind fled to during countless hours in hospital, whatever idea it landed on, I picked up and ran with. And so now Seven Sisters’ Spices is a many horned beast - I event cater, run workshops and pop ups, have a range of products, recipe develop and write on this platform while still offering a once monthly Friday Food Delivery.
As I steam on into my fifties and all that brings I am keener than ever to rationalise my working life. My dream is to write, teach and have my products, letting the catering drop away. Which is my most profitable income stream? You’ve probably guessed correctly. Part of committing to writing weekly editions of Hope’s Kitchen on Substack is a drive to make my dream come true. I am hugely grateful to the support found there for my writing. Thank you followers and subscribers. This post is a lift from a note posted over on Substack. Like so many, my energy reserves are low, hence the doubling up.
Here’s my converted Silver Cross in all her fine new livery, I could have painted her all day long, back in July 2014.
