⭐️ We’re back at Perth Farmers’ Market this Saturday ⭐️

It wasn’t originally on the cards, but after so many kind messages and requests, we managed to make it happen. We’re genuinely pleased that our final market of the year gets to be in Perth.

A chance to see familiar faces, have a proper catch-up, and a good opportunity to top up the freezer or pick up a few last bits and bobs for the Christmas table.

If you’re heading to the market this Saturday, come and say hello to what will be our last market until next season.

Thank you for the incredible response to last week’s Christmas relaunch. Seeing familiar names come through again has been a real reminder of why we started this back in 2019.

On collection day, we will have mulled wine waiting, and we would love the chance to catch up properly with you and welcome you back to Woodmill. There will be time for a proper hello and a happy handover with the team 🎁

This time we’re doing things a smaller and steadier way. While our online shop is still offline, we are returning to a handful of Scotland’s finest markets this Autumn.

After years of bringing you the best in wild game, we’re closing our online shop to focus on new ventures – but not without a proper send-off.

Until Monday 17th March, enjoy 15% off Venison Tenderloin & Fillet as we prepare for our final deliveries on Thursday 20th March.

And although the online shop is closing, you can still find us at our usual farmers' markets for the next 3 weekends and at a select few markets through autumn and winter.

We’ve loved being part of your kitchens, and our passion for great food and quality game remains the same. Your support has meant everything to us, and we hope you’ll stay connected.

📢 A Market Update from Woodmill Game

For years, we’ve loved bringing our wild game to markets across Scotland, meeting so many of you who share our passion for real food with real provenance. However, we have now decided to put our efforts into other Woodmill ventures and consequently wind down our happy days at Farmers Markets.

Our final market weekend will be 22nd–23rd March, but for some locations, this coming weekend will be our last appearance.

This will be our final time at the following markets:

🦌 Perth – Saturday 2nd March
🍂 Portobello – Saturday 2nd March
🌿 Inverness – Saturday 2nd March
🔥 St Andrews – Sunday 3rd March
🥩 Livingston – Sunday 3rd March

If these have been your regular spots to stock up, this is your last chance to grab your favourites from us there. Fill up your freezers while you can—we won’t be back at these locations.

We’ll still be attending a select few markets in the autumn, so keep an eye out for updates on where to find us next.

It’s a term we love to use at Woodmill Game, as it’s our way of keeping track of our carbon footprint that comes with running the business. We’re always highly conscious of our environmental impact on the planet especially when it comes to food miles driving from door to door.

Did you know we also offer people the chance to buy extras from the van while we are at your door? This saves extra packaging time and multiple trips causing more miles per sausage.

Cooking game meat like venison, wild boar, and pheasant can be incredibly rewarding, but it does require a slightly different approach than cooking farmed meats. Here are a few key tips to get the best out of your wild game:

👉 Marinate for tenderness – Since game meat has less fat, a marinade can add moisture and flavour.

👉 Use fat to add moisture – Because it's so lean, game benefits from extra fat. Wrap your roasts in bacon or pancetta.

👉 Rest your meat – Always let game meat rest after cooking to let the juices redistribute. About 5-10 minutes for steaks, 15-20 minutes for roasts.

👉 Pair with the right flavours – Game has a deep, rich taste that pairs well with fruits like cranberries, cherries or apples.

👉 Slow cook tough cuts – Shoulders, neck, and shanks are full of connective tissue and shine in slow-cooked dishes.
