Ludivine and Titouan are out daily with the sheep, feeding the lambs and checking everything is as it should be 🐑🥛🌿🌱

In addition to the nonsense talked in the video, these two bright French university students are here as interns, one looking at the exporting system for wool business, the other carrying out a carbon audit of our activities on the farm.
Big thanks to them.

Not quite ready for the field.

After being grown in the polytunnel, young plants need time to adjust to outdoor conditions like wind, direct sunlight and cooler temperatures. Sticking them outside the polytunnel helps to toughen the plants up before they are transplanted out in the field - called hardening off. Without this process, the sudden change of conditions can shock them and slow their growth.
Fingers crossed we can get them out into the field this week. Watch this space for pics of the process...

How would an organic sheep’s life have differed from a non-organic sheep? 🐑

Most sheep, organic or not, spend their lives grazing freely, often in upland areas. But the real difference lies in how their health is managed.

Non-organic systems tend to rely on routine treatments like frequent worming and preventative antibiotics. Organic farming takes a different path, focusing on prevention through careful flock management, clean grazing, and lower stocking densities.

Instead of treating problems on a schedule, organic farmers aim to reduce disease risk naturally, using pasture rotation, closed flocks, and minimal chemical intervention. Even common practices like sheep dips are avoided due to potential harm to animals, humans, and the environment.

It’s not just about what sheep are given, it’s about how they’re cared for, and how much intervention is really necessary.
