A special visitor! This is Le Bèle from the Emmental valley in Switzerland. It is a delicious, sharp yet sweet, creamy blue sheep's milk cheese with rich flavours and occasional salt crystals. It is made with unpasteurised, silage free ewes milk and matured for around one year. Definitely a treat for blue cheese lovers, ask us to taste when you are in the shop.

A word about our butter. Our butter comes from Longmans who have been making cheese in Somerset for over 200 years. Our butter is whey butter, a by product of cheesemaking, ordinary butter is made with fresh milk but whey butter has been through the initial stages of cheesemaking. As well as giving it a beautiful golden colour, it has a lower fat content and a delicious slightly cheesey flavour. Whey butter is quite a rarity in the Uk because making it is time consuming and skilled, but totally worth it we reckon. 👏

Book your August Cheese School places City Wine Bar + Kitchen now at www.liverpoolcheesecompany.com.

Just for fun, we are going to host an evening with cheese and accompaniments made North of here!  9 Cheeses from Lancashire, Scotland, Scandinavia…… paired with 3 different drinks from places more than 53.4° north (vodka? Whisky? Beer? mead? Aquavit, cider?)  There will of course also be the usual well stocked bar, fruits, biscuits, bread and music.  Non alcoholic drinks available.

We have received lots of birthday wishes, cards etc. But this is the most exciting, it is a painting of a piece of Gorgonzola by Birkenhead born artist Christian Furr.
Christian and his wife visited our shop whilst in Liverpool recently and noted both that it was our birthday yesterday and that our walls matched his Gorgonzola painting so he very kindly sent us the painting, we love it! ❤️

It's our birthday! If you are one of the many, many people who has visited us over the past 20 years, ordered online, had a cheese wedding cake, been to Cheese School or queued up at Christmas then thank you so much, we could not have done it without you!
