Dal is always on the menu, but this one waits for jackfruit season. Toor dal (split pigeon peas) simmered with jackfruit seeds - nutty, tender, and full of quiet comfort. The seeds are saved after the sweet pulp is gone, washed, sun-dried till crisp outside but soft inside, then slow-cooked into the dal. Red chilli🌶️ & curry leaves🍃 tempered in hot ghee and tipped in the very last moment - this is seasonal home cooking at its best.💚 Recipe linked to bio🫶🏼

Had the honour of hosting a few weeks ago. She made her signature Aloo Bhorta, Shutki Bhorta and Begun Bhaja - all eaten by hand with plain rice🤌🏻
The plate? Wiped clean😍
The heat from the smoked chillies? Intense 🌶️🌶️🌶️ and beautiful.

In honour of Sustainable Gastronomy Day🌾, we made Qistibi from Alissa Timoshkina’s beautiful cookbook Kapusta — a humble heritage flatbread from the Volga Tatar kitchens, filled with buttery potato mash and a bold dash of our Muziris Black Pepper😍 
It is soft, crisp-edged, and soul-satisfying🫶🏼🫶🏼

This Qistibi recipe was passed down to Alissa by a pastry chef of Tatar-Jewish origin “whose family story spans Bashkortostan to Samarkand - written through food memories and recipes, preserving a rich cultural lineage”.

Today, we’re celebrating stories like these - where ingredients are modest, traditions are honoured, and flavour carries a sense of place🌾

A vibrant, hearty vegan dumpling soup bursting with incredible flavour 👌🏻👌🏻 👌🏻- we cooked Alissa Timoshkina’s Kreplach-Ashkenazi Dumplings soup from her new cook book “Kapusta”💚💚💚 using our and 🔥🔥
Such a wholesome recipe for family dinners, I simply cannot wait to make this dish to my daughter as she grows up🥰

Ps: we probably used the wrong grater for the carrots🥹 and our shining a little too bright. But we’ll take that😍
