Dear customers, friends and neighbours,

You have probably noticed the the shop has been closed for a few days now. We are very sad to say that this email is to let you know that we have closed permanently.

As for many small retailers (and their customers) the last few years have been very tough indeed. Even though the pandemic has receded, the current economic climate has kept trading extremely difficult. Rising costs, a pending rent increase and the recent blow of an unexpected refrigeration breakdown mean that the sums no longer add up for our business.

We have been in Crouch End for a wonderful 14 years and it is the people that have shopped with us that have made it possible. We want to send a heartfelt thank you to all of our customers, we have really appreciated your support and enthusiasm. We will have long memories of your friendship and good humour.

Easter 2022 will be on Sunday 17th of April. A great time sit down with family to enjoy some good food. Make sure you are not disappointed, place your Easter orders online now and you will have what you need for a great meal.

This year we do have a few free range turkeys available but be quick there are not many to go round.

Morley Butchers source the very best Scotch Beef. We look for meat that is well marbled and matured on the bone for between 21 and 28 days for extra flavour. This produces a succulent, full flavoured product, just right for a “perfect” Valentines Day steak.

The are here! We have been wrangling these tasty Scottish critters onto our counter today. Perfect timing for Burns Night celebrations on the 25th of January.

The Haggis on our counter are produced by award winning butchers Hugh Black & Sons. They come in a variety of sizes from small and medium, up to a Chieftain, perfect for any size gathering.

A haggis consists of lamb, beef, oatmeal, onions and special seasoning. Our haggis has already been cooked and simply need to be baked, steamed or microwaved until they are piping hot.

We have several great recipes and guides for cooking haggis on our blog either as a stand alone pudding with "neaps and tatties". Or if the idea of a whole one is a bit daunting try it as the key ingredient, in Chicken Balmoral or our Haggis Scotch Egg

To achieve this we first take great care to select the best suppliers and producers. We look for beef that has come from slow growing animals that have enjoyed a natural lifestyle and wholesome diet. This delivers real taste and well marbled joints. Secondly we matured on the bone for between 21 and 28 days (or longer) for extra flavour.
