The Groomers Spotlight

The Groomers Spotlight Transparent directory of grooming professionals who have achieved industry recognised qualifications. (see website for T's and C's).
(2)

The Groomers Spotlight aims to highlight individual dog groomers that have achieved the full professional level 3 City and Guilds Diploma, The OCN West Midlands Grooming Qualification and The IPG Qualification. According to our survey, the majority of the public think that pet grooming is regulated and take it for granted that their groomer is fully qualified. This is unfortunately not the case. T

he Groomers Spotlight will direct you to your nearest Fully Qualified grooming individual and will give you a choice of whom to book in with and where to go for your pets specific needs. It will also give qualified groomers a platform to advertise themselves in a professional way and to add value to their work as they will be reachable wherever they work as long as they keep their profile up to date. Each spotlight member will have an individual membership number and profile page where they can tell you all about their strengths and achievements. It ticks so many boxes and we think it will help professionalise the industry and give kudos to those that have worked so hard to gain their full professional qualification.

🏖️ Heading to the beach with your dog this summer?

While it’s great fun, dogs can accidentally swallow sand while digging, playing, or fetching toys. In some cases, this can cause a blockage known as sand impaction.

Signs to watch for include:

⚠️ Vomiting
⚠️Loss of appetite
⚠️Lethargy
⚠️Restlessness

To help reduce the risk:

✅Bring plenty of fresh water
✅Avoid throwing toys onto sandy areas
✅Discourage excessive digging

If your dog seems unwell after a beach trip, contact your vet as soon as possible.

Changes in coat colour can sometimes be completely harmless - but occasionally they can be a sign that something else is going on 🧐

Some common reasons include:

✨White fur turning red or brown
Tear staining and saliva contain natural pigments called porphyrins, which can stain lighter coats around the eyes, mouth, and paws. Excessive licking can also be linked to allergies.

✨Black or dark coats turning rusty or orange
Diet can sometimes play a role. Certain nutrients and amino acids help maintain coat pigmentation, so changes in food may affect coat colour and quality.

✨Bronze colouring in spotted breeds
Some breeds, including Dalmatians, can develop a bronzed tint linked to inherited metabolic conditions.

✨Hormonal and endocrine conditions
Conditions such as diabetes, Cushing’s disease, hypothyroidism, and hormonal changes after spaying or neutering can affect the coat cycle, leading to changes in both coat colour and texture.

✨Changes after medical treatment
Cancer treatments, radiation therapy, and some medications can occasionally affect pigment-producing cells, leading to changes in coat colour.

If you notice sudden or unusual changes in your dog’s coat -especially alongside itching, excessive licking, hair loss, or skin irritation, it’s always worth speaking to your vet!

Your dog’s coat can often tell you a lot about their overall health 💙

It’s true... sometimes we do wake up at 3am thinking about your dog. 💤

Wondering how they’re settling after their first groom.
Hoping they’re feeling more comfortable.
Thinking about how far they’ve come since we first met them.

Because for most groomers, it’s never just about the haircut.

We celebrate every little win. We worry. We care.

Groomers, please tell us it’s not just us! ❤️
