Production Operative – South Ockendon – Food Factory

Become part of our fast-growing team as a production operative running machinery to produce a range of meat products for our customers. We are a catering butcher and manufacturer that combine the skill and passion of traditional butchery with innovative and precise manufacturing methods.

Pay Rate
£10.50 per hour
£15.75 per hour for overtime

Shift Pattern
Monday to Friday
6am - 3pm
No nights or weekends!

Job Details

Operating meat processing machinery (mincer, dicer, mixer, burger/sausage machine, vacuum packing).
Monitoring product quality.
Ensuring effective machine operation.
General factory and hygiene duties.
Training will be provided for this role so all levels of experience will be considered.

We are looking for butchers and meat cutters at all levels of experience. Your salary will depend on your level of experience.

Some experience in a similar role is required, knife skills are essential. Further training for this specific role will be provided on the job if the basic skills are in place. A block test will be required at interview.

Hours are 5.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday leaving your afternoons, evenings and weekends free.

We offer competitive hourly rates and a well maintained, clean working environment.

Free freshly prepared lunches are provided daily saving you time and money.

This role will suit somebody local to South Ockendon or with their own transport as local public transport is limited at the start time for this job.

*Please note we are not an abattoir

What Does The Job Involve?

- Meat cutting, portion control and packing.
- Some other general butchery.
- Monitoring product quality.
- General factory and hygiene duties.

Who Are We Looking For?
- A Reliable person who is able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Person with a good sense of responsibility.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Some experience in a similar role that can demonstrate knife skills is essential.
- Own transport as public transport links are not good.

It is shocking that despite the UK being the 6th richest country on the planet, a whopping 19% of our nation’s children - 2.5 million - continue to live in food insecure households.

A food insecure household doesn't have the financial means to be able to buy sufficient food, or the ingredients to provide a balanced, healthy diet.

We are proud to be supporting Little Kickers who have tasked themselves with raising £18,000 in order to provide 1,000 Christmas lunches to some of this nation’s most deserving families. Featuring Michael Hartley's delicious turkey (thank you so much Michael - please check him out if you are looking for amazing quality cooked meats), and with the wonderful Bidfood UK team and LACA (The School Food People) coordinating.

We loved meeting Cheryl today to present her with her prize as the winner of our 'Thank You Key Workers' prize draw. As thanks for her hard work in the school kitchen throughout the pandemic, we presented her with a luxury meat box including a number of different cuts and designer cookware from Emma Bridgewater in a bundle worth £250. As promised, here's the prize draw for Thank You Key Workers day. The winner was randomly selected on a spinning wheel app. As you can see, we received many great nominations for key school catering staff. Reading the endorsements was really inspiring and we loved to hear all of the stories behind each nomination. Moving forward, we're going to try our best to highlight the great work that all these school caterers do every day, so keep your eyes peeled on our page!

Congratulations go to Cheryl Trottman of Wolfe Primary School. Your can-do attitude, hard work, and strength of spirit is something that has not gone unnoticed by your team when you worked at a hub sending packed lunches to 5 sites during the pandemic. A luxury meat box and cookware is on its way to you!

So it's the final day of National School Meals Week and what else could Friday's lunch be but fish & chips followed by pink school cake with sprinkles - the absolute best! 🧁

This was a favourite of pretty much all of us here at William White Meats and we've really enjoyed having some fun with school meals this week. Today is also important for another reason, it's 'Thank You Key Workers Day' where we show our thanks to the hardworking staff manning all of the school kitchens who have worked hard across this pandemic to ensure kids were fed safely. As a small token of our appreciation we will be running a prize draw shortly where we have taken nominations from our customers of staff in their kitchens who have gone above and beyond. The winner will receive a luxury meat box and some cookware just as a little thank you.
