It’s spring at the olive grove in Crete. Lovely spring flowers have popped up from the soil around the olive trees.

After the previous harvest, the trees have been pruned and the new buds are starting to form which will grow into this year’s olives during the year.

Here’s a snapshot of what’s happening from Kamil who you see on Saturdays at the market. Olive Branch will be back again this Saturday after a couple of weeks away.

are based in North Kilworth, right beside the Grand Union Canal near Leicester. They’ve built a thriving business rooted in compassionate, traditional farming.

Their birds live in small flocks with Total Freedom to roam across 30 acres of pesticide-free pasture

They’re slow-grown for 81 days — that’s two weeks longer than organic standards

Raised without additives, growth hormones or routine antibiotics

Fed on sustainably sourced cereals and pulses

Processed by hand with care in their own small butchery

Why does it matter? Because birds that live well, taste better. Rich, succulent, full of flavour. You can find them at the market every Saturday throughout the year.

Fermented, flavour-packed, and plant-based, the small-batch creations from Nettle Foods are here to transform your everyday meals
foods are made with activated cashews, spring water, cold-pressed oils and live cultures, these raw and unpasteurised ferments are as good for your gut as they are for your tastebuds.

Haverstock White – a marinated macadamia & cashew cheese with garlic, thyme and black pepper. Creamy and tangy like Persian feta.

Cultured Gold – cultured cashew milk butter, lightly salted and sealed under extra virgin olive oil. Bake it, spread it, love it.

Sumac Chilli Mint – vibrant, citrusy and gently spicy with fermented chillies, spearmint and dried sumac. Perfect with fritters or warm flatbread.

Preserved Lemon Dill – zesty and herbaceous with preserved Sicilian lemons and fresh dill. Spoon onto bagels or stir through pasta.

Mushroom Truffle Pâté – a zero-waste innovation made using the umami-rich stock from Symplicity’s ferments, combined with cashew, truffle oil and lemon. Creamy, savoury, and intensely moreish.

Nettle Foods is all about bold flavour, better health, and food that supports the planet.

They are with us every Saturday in February and March at Brockley Market. Stock up and ferment your way into spring.

are back this Saturday with their truly local, raw honey straight from hive to jar. 🐝

Their beekeeping philosophy? Keep it natural. No sugar-feeding, no tampering, just hardworking bees gathering nectar from South East London’s parks and gardens. The result is honey packed with natural enzymes, pollen, and flavour. Nothing added, nothing taken away.

It’s as close to the comb as you can get and you can really taste the difference. Come meet the beekeeper and pick up a jar of golden goodness.

Find them at the market this Saturday & every first Saturday of the month

Puntarelle yesterday at the market. the beautifully bitter Italian chicory that’s in season. With its crisp stems and feathery leaves, it’s a winter veg that’s as striking as it is delicious. Traditionally shaved thin and tossed with anchovy dressing, it’s a Roman classic. Great grilled, stirred through pasta, or simply dressed with lemon and olive oil from

January seasonal veg yesterday

Romanesco now in season, crisp, nutty, and almost too beautiful to chop, this winter brassica is a chef’s dream. Roast it, steam it, break it into florets for dipping — or just stare at its mesmerising spirals a bit longer.

Also stealing the show: jewel-like radicchio, peppery radishes, purple sprouting broccoli, and those rich green January flavours we can’t get enough of.

What are you cooking this January Sunday?
