Join us at Panzer's this Friday, 5 June, for an in-store tasting of The Chilli Trail, a collection of small-batch chilli pastes handmade in Brighton and inspired by flavours discovered across 18 countries 🌶️

Theo and Harriet, the creators behind The Chilli Trail, left behind their corporate careers in late 2024, packed their backpacks, and set off on a journey through South and Central America, Oceania and Asia. From smoky street food in Peru to fragrant curries in Sri Lanka, they discovered new ways to cook, eat and live.

Along the way, they encountered flavours they couldn't find back home, and The Chilli Trail was born.

There is always something intriguing to discover at Panzer’s ✨

Here is our lovely Jenet from our back-of-house team holding two tropical delicacies: custard apple and dragon fruit. Distinctive in appearance and wonderfully unique in flavour, both offer a welcome departure from everyday fruit.

We encourage you to be a little adventurous with the produce you choose. Try something unfamiliar, experiment with new flavours, and discover a fruit you may never have picked up otherwise.

Enjoy them on their own, add them to a smoothie bowl, a salad, or serve them as part of a dessert 😉

It is with great sadness that we write to inform you of the passing of Peter “Panzer” Vogl, who passed peacefully this morning. 14/6/1943 – 26/5/2026

Peter was the second generation in the Panzer’s line, the store having been started by his father, Walter, in 1944. Peter joined in 1964 and, over many years, adapted the store to keep up with the times, matching the ever-changing demographic of St John’s Wood. From the early 1980s, Peter took full control of this wonderful community store and remained at the helm until 2015, when he kindly handed over the reins to us — though he stayed very much with us, helping us to understand the complexities and eccentricities of Panzer’s, something we are still grappling with today.

Peter was a Gentleman and a Mensch, and will be greatly missed by us all — not least for his great sense of humour and wisdom.

The funeral will be on Thursday at 2pm at Hoop Lane Cemetery, NW11 7NJ. The Shiva will be on Thursday evening at 7pm, and Sunday evening at 7.30pm, at 12 Eldon Grove, NW3 5PT.

Two exceptional apple juices have arrived at Panzer’s, direct from Japan 🇯🇵

Chi-chan is beautifully balanced. Sweet, gently tangy, with a smooth, rounded finish, featuring a little girl on the label.

Yu-kun, made from golden apples, is lighter in style. Crisp, refreshing, and low in acidity, with a boy on the label.

Pop by and take one home. These are a lovely addition to any gathering and make a beautiful gift 🍎✨

The first cherries of the season are finally making an appearance, and how lucky are we all! 🍒 Spanish and French cherries are in-store now, with a crisp, sweet flavour. We are expecting more varieties from California and Turkey very soon, followed by British cherries later on as the days grow warmer.

Lovely eaten just as they are, or scattered over Panzer’s Greek sheep yoghurt and our house-made granola.

Make sure to pop in and take some home!

Top tip: keep them in the fridge so they stay beautifully crisp.
