Loon Fung was established in central London in 1965 as one-stop shopping Asian supermarket in the UK.

Loon Fung was established in central London in 1965 as one of the first Chinese supermarkets in the UK. Since then we have become one of the landmarks of London’s vibrant and bustling Chinatown. In 1990, a site in Tottenham, North London, was developed into a warehouse and cash and carry offering oriental foods to public and trade customers. In 1995, a new site was acquired in Alperton, West Londo

n where we built a modern cash and carry outlet designed to accommodate the growing interest in ethnic foods and to serve the growing oriental population in the surrounding area. In August 2014, we opened our new supermarket in Stratford, East London to supply oriental foods to the growing cosmopolitan population in the area and beyond.

Ever wondered why people eat zongzi during the Dragon Boat Festival? 🐉

According to legend, Qu Yuan, a respected poet from ancient China, drowned himself in a river after becoming distraught that his kingdom had been invaded and was about to fall. Local people rushed out in boats to search for him and threw rice into the water to protect his body. Over time, this act evolved into the zongzi we enjoy today.

More than just a festive delicacy, zongzi remains an important part of festival celebrations, bringing family and friends together through a shared cultural heritage.
