A long one from Richard – bear with him!

As many of you know, Lesley and Vivienne are taking on the Great North Run on Sunday, 7th September, raising money for Cancer Research UK.

So many of you have already sponsored them either online or in the shop (often after spotting my questionable hair – thanks Maria! 😂).

👉 This Saturday (10am–12pm), Lesley and Viv will be out front of the shopping centre. I’d love as many of you as possible to come by, give them a cheer, and show your support for the incredible challenge they’re taking on.

✨ A bit about them:

Viv is a proper runner (she clocks up more miles a week running than I do driving!).

Lesley went from walking the dog during cancer recovery to committing herself to train for this mammoth run, determined to give back to the research that supported her and so many others.

We’ll have plenty going on to make it a morning to remember:
🎶 Live music from Steve the busker
🚴‍♀️ Jez and the amazing volunteers from BIKEACTIVE, showing their specially adapted cycles and sharing what their charity does locally
🤝 Hopefully some special appearances from the “Pink Ladies” and maybe even a few Hells Angels to give a salute!
🙌 A chance to meet a Cancer Research UK rep (TBC) to hear where the money goes and how you can help too
📸 And of course, grab a photo with the weirdest-looking butcher you’re ever likely to see!

Let’s make a buzz, give these ladies the send-off they deserve, and cheer them on for their huge challenge. 💖

Every Tuesday, Pacha takes me for a walk to the butchers She knows the route well, the butchers name, and how to get his attention. And expects a handful of lamb mince straight away. By 7am, the excitement is over, and it's back to me walking her instead of her dragging me.

And then I pick up my order, normally around 20kg or more of the very finest Norfolk meats, for your desi Indian curries.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to let you know that The Butcher’s House will be closed from Monday 1st September and will reopen on Tuesday 9th September.

Joy and Paul will be taking a break, and I’ll be heading up to Newcastle to support two remarkable women - Lesley and Vivienne - as they take on the Great North Run, raising money for Cancer Research UK.

If you've spotted the pink Mohican lately, that's your clue! 😄

It felt like the right time to pause. I’ve arranged a train to Newcastle so I can be there at the finish line to cheer them on in person - a small way to honour the huge effort they’re making.

“Compassion before commerce.”

Cancer has touched so many lives - our friends, our customers, and our families. Whether you're running, donating, or simply spreading awareness, we’re all doing our part in the hope of finding a cure for this awful disease.

And when people ask about my hair?
“There, but for the grace of God, go I.”

This effort may not benefit our generation, but it’s for our children, and their children. That’s what matters most.

Thanks for your continued support and understanding - it means the world.

See you soon,
Richard

How long should he grow his mohawk? 🩷
