About Us
Kirkup’s Butchers was founded on 1st May 1995 by Billy and Ruth Kirkup with a simple vision: to provide the highest quality locally sourced meat alongside exceptional customer service.
At the time, Billy and Ruth were raising their young family, with their son Billy aged three and Joe arriving just 24 days after the business opened. Over the years, what started as a family business has grown into a trusted name across the local area, while still maintaining the same family values that it was built upon.
Today, we proudly serve our communities from our shops in Longtown, Silloth and Langholm, as well as operating our specialist catering company, Border Catering, and our popular Border Hog Roast service.
Our motto remains at the heart of everything we do:
“Quality Assured, Locally Sourced and Freshly Cut.”
We are committed to supporting British farming and local suppliers. All of our products are 100% British, and we work closely with trusted suppliers including:
* Frank Bird Poultry for our chicken products
* Todd’s of Kendal for our pork and bacon
* Bee Edge Farm and Newton Farm for our beef cattle
We are also proud to supply a number of outstanding local hospitality businesses, including The Old Bank, The Secret Garden, Dog and Gun and Askham Hall.
