WHOLESALE AT SHAW’S

I’d just like to thank everyone that has recently enquired about wholesale at Shaw’s. It made me think I should just invest a little time here to explain about the whys and what’s of wholesale here at Shaw’s.

As many of people know Rob ran a busy wholesale business for many decades. Its success was largely dependent upon his personal drive and determination often clocking up 100 hours a week. 2am alarm calls to empty answerphone messages, adjust orders at market and meet transport vans moving produce up and down the length of Lincolnshire on their way to various markets. During Covid, that intensified and alongside that both he and Mike, my brother, received quite heartbreaking medical diagnoses, the kind that make you sit back and think, “am I using the time left available to me in the best possible way”.

We decided we needed to make changes that would allow a better work life balance but allow us to keep doing the job we loved most. We have predominantly focused upon the retail shop which has given us a lot of joy and allowed us lots of creativity. Alongside that a number of our valued wholesale customers asked if they might be able to collect orders from us still and we have worked out a programme of doing that. Rob now has a lady called Denise in the warehouse helping to pick and pack orders, put stock away and ensure the warehouse is kept orderly.

Wholesale orders are available for collection on Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays. We ask that the orders are placed by 3pm for next day collection. A member of the team rings once the order is ready for collection. We aren’t in a position to offer goods on a credit basis I’m afraid.

If collection isn’t a possibility then Tom is out in the home delivery van and can drop into you although we do charge for this at £5.50 and often due to the routes he takes often isn’t at the required time.

So the answer to the question is, yes, we do offer a limited wholesale service but it might not suit your commercial needs and we quite understand you have to look elsewhere. We are extremely grateful to the wholesale customers who do continue to support us week in week out. With thanks Cat

HAMPER EXPRESS!

One of our regular customers popped along this morning to do a shop and asked us if we could put everything together as a hamper for them as they wanted to take it to a friend that has been ill.

I love doing these! They chose to include; melon, Myers Plumbread, Alfred Enderby Smoked salmon, lemons, avocado, Organic apple juice, Ortiz tuna, local honey, cote hill blue, Lincolnshire poacher, Netherend Farm butter, Willows Farm strawberries, Somercotes potatoes, red onion, carrots, beetroot and organic onions.

We hope the recipient enjoys it!

I love Summer “cooking”, don’t you? No pans, no trays to soak and scrub. Just flavour.

I might start looking like a tomato if I eat many more 😂. Tonight I went with buratta, lots of tomatoes (some from Dad’s greenhouse, some of the untreated heritage ones), fresh basil, olive oil, salt and pepper. Simply served up with a bowl of Laurence J Betts Ltd. rocket leaves, Perello olives (they didn’t all make it to the table 😉) and Vine’s Bakery Ciabatta rolls. 🤤 oh, and a cheeky white wine spritzer!!

MANY THANKS

For your support today, you’ve kept us busy! With two members of the team on holiday Isaac kindly came to cover and was much needed!

It was pretty sweltering by 3pm and we very soon got the shop stripped down at 4pm and into refrigeration for the night. Tom, Isaac and Dara will be at the helm tomorrow 9am to 4pm.

COSTA DEL SHAW’S

As I came out of the house this morning and walked across the yard it felt like I was in the Mediterranean heading to the market for salad and fruit before the main heat of the day.

In a bid to focus upon the positives instead of the constant worry of the stress our beautiful, and normally green land presently is, we welcome you to pretend you are in your favourite holiday spot. Bring a basket and find some gorgeous produce. Whether that’s a pan of padrons to go with a cold drink, a spicy salsa dip, a bowl of tomato and onion salad, or bowls of beautiful stone fruit we have you covered.

The fish man is here, why not get some fish for your BBQ? Don’t forget our freezer is filled with lots and lots of sausages!
