Mason’s Mt Everest Challenge for Herefordshire Mind in memory of Jamo.

12-year-old Mason from Hereford is taking on an incredible challenge this May half term — climbing the height of Mount Everest vertically on an indoor climbing wall.

Mount Everest stands at 8,848.86 metres, and to complete this challenge Mason will need to climb an indoor 8-metre wall an average of 123 climbs every single day for 9 straight days.

The challenge will take place at Green Spider Climbing in Hereford, starting on Saturday 23rd May and finishing on Sunday 31st May.

Mason is giving up his entire half term because this challenge means so much to him. He wants to raise awareness around mental health and help break the silence surrounding it in Herefordshire and beyond.

He is fundraising for in the memory of Jamo and we are asking for donations through the fundraising link. Every donation, no matter the size, will help support an important cause and show Mason that the community is behind him.

This is going to take determination, resilience, and serious effort — the equivalent of climbing Everest indoors, one wall at a time.

Love this styling of our Cormac cheese birthday cake. Beautifully put together for a young climber by Lyndhurst Farm and I was lucky enough to have a munch! Lyndhurst has a couple of lovely self catering options including a shepherd's hut with a hot tub, tucked just in the countryside surrounding Hereford so perfect if you're coming over for a weekend for a cheese tasting for your wedding!

Wow what a Christmas. A huge thanks as always to our little team, we've sent out 70 parcels a day for the last 2.5 weeks, as well as the huge amount of people we've served in the shops, they work so hard and we're incredibly grateful. Its wonderful to see all the people getting their Christmas cheese, but its our regulars I'd really like to thank, they're the ones that keep us going all year. After all, like all independents, a cheese shop is for life, not just for Christmas!

Definitely something we can get behind! Where ever you live, please try to buy local this year, if you don't want to be complaining about a lack of shops, you need to use them! And if you do buy online (of course we all do), use real UK businesses, keep the money in this country - not just amazon!!

£30 CAMPAIGN❗️| Support Your Local High Street By Committing To Spend a Minimum of £30 with a Local Business This Christmas! 🎄🎅🛍️

We understand that Christmas can be a tough time for many, but we are asking for your support on behalf of our wonderful businesses in Herefordshire (and other parts of the UK in truth).

Many local businesses are struggling to make ends meet. Whether it’s rising costs for energy, or delivery fees - or even the increase in wages for staff. Our independent retailers need your support this Christmas!

🫵 This is where YOU can make a difference!

If we could get JUST 10% of our followers (13,200 of 132,000!) to commit to spend £30 locally in the run up to Christmas (that could be with your local bookshop, butcher, fruit and veg stall, restaurant, clothing outlet….etc) - it would create a wave of £396,000 in additional income for our local high street and businesses! It might not seem like a huge amount in the grand scheme of things - but it would mean so much for many of them!

In Hereford we have Church Street, Ross-on-Wye we have a beautiful High Street. In Leominster we have Drapers Lane and Ledbury, Bromyard and Kington have some fantastic independents. Add to that our local villages and you’ve got plenty to choose from!
