It's National Picnic Week — and we think we've got the spread sorted. 🧺

Whether you're heading out to a park, the garden, or just the boot of the car in a layby somewhere, there's nothing that beats a proper picnic. And by proper, we mean sausage rolls with actual meat inside them, a scotch egg that doesn't taste like it's been sitting under a heat lamp since last week, a decent pork pie, and some sliced ham that's the best you will taste.

Everything you need is in at all our locations and online — made here in our own kitchen and butchery, the way it should be.

And with Father's Day falling on Sunday — the last day of National Picnic Week — a blanket, a good spread, and a cold drink in the sunshine might just be the best gift going. Better than another pair of socks, anyway.

Monday 15th June is National Beer Day — and we reckon that's worth raising a glass to. 🍺

In our Market Gate Deli fridges right now: Hawkstone Lager (yes, that's Jeremy Clarkson's — and with Clarkson's Farm back on our screens, seems rude not to), plus The Grainstore Brewery Tap from just over the border in Rutland, and Bowler's Brewery and Hopshackle Brewery — both brewed right here in Deeping.

And here's the bit that matters — our Traditional Butchers next door have teamed up with the Deli for an offer running this week: a 350g rump steak or 250g sirloin, plus two beers of your choice, for £15.

With Father's Day coming up on Sunday, that's about as good an excuse for a night in as we've heard all year.

Stuck on what to get him for Father's Day? Skip the socks. 🧀

Our English Cheeseboard Selection is four genuine greats of British cheesemaking on one board — Lincolnshire Poacher from right here in the Wolds, a 24-month aged Barber's 1833 Vintage Cheddar, Baron Bigod (the Suffolk brie that's been quietly outclassing French brie on UK cheese counters), and a proper hand-ladled Colston Bassett Stilton.

We've added our own Red Onion Marmalade and Peter's Yard sourdough crackers, so there's nothing left to sort. Just let it come up to room temperature and pour something decent alongside it.

If your dad's the type who'd rather have a proper cheeseboard and a night in than anything else — this is it.

Grasmere Farm is looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic individual to join our onsite butchery team near Deeping St James as a Trainee Butcher.

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn a skilled trade from experienced professionals within a busy, family-run business known for high-quality produce and traditional butchery.

You’ll receive hands-on training in primarily pork butchery, learning everything from:
🐖 Full carcass breakdown
🔪 Preparing cuts for retailers and customers
🥓 Product preparation and production techniques

🕖 Working hours:
Monday–Thursday, 7am until finish (approx. 5pm)
Occasional Friday work required

⭐ We’re looking for someone who is:
• Hardworking and reliable
• Willing to learn
• Able to work at a quick pace
• Positive and proactive

💷 Competitive rates of pay with progression as skills develop.

📍 Based at our farm near Deeping St James
🚗 Own transport essential due to rural location
