Record breaking Lion's Mane harvest! 😎

1,365g - our biggest Lion's Mane mushroom harvest from a single block! So far...

These mushrooms are loving the organic substrate we mix for them - consisting of beech wood 🌴 and soy hulls🌾 - this makes a tasty snack for our mushrooms.

We also make our own grain spawn from local organic rye grain. By making spawn ourselves, it can be used at the optimum stage of growth.
Healthy mycelium = Happy mushrooms = Healthy, happy people 😃

🌴 Trees trees trees 🌳

We had a busy weekend planting 500 trees!

A lovely mixture of willow and hazelnut trees to improve the habitat in this waterlogged area.

Some trees will be coppiced, using the wood to then grow mushrooms on. Other trees will grow and provide us with shade one day 😀

Next job is to cover the base of each sapling with mushroomy woodchip in order to:
- Reduce competition from grass growth 🌿
- Protect from drought in the summer 🌞
- Insulate against frost in the winter 🧊
- Slowly provides more nutrients to the soil 👌

Harvesting some slow growing functional mushroom powerhouses recently 👊

These mushrooms have a tough woody texture but are packed full of healthy compounds
e.g. B-glucans, polyphenols, antioxidants and triterpenoids ✅

Turkey Tail and Reishi mushrooms take 3-6 months to grow which is much longer than typical Oyster mushrooms or Lion's Mane which take a couple of weeks!

These powerful mushrooms are worth the wait as they look spectacular and have remarkable benefits 👌
