Marlborough Communities Market

Marlborough Communities Market The Communities Market takes place on the last Sunday of the month | March to October - with an extr

Set up to support local artisan producers and strengthen food networks within the Marlborough area, the market was started when the local Transition Town group came together to address concerns around the recent closure of the towns long term Farmers' Market. Having said that, Marlborough is a vibrant market town where the local authority run a General Market every Wednesday and Saturday. The comm

unities market therefore for fills a niche in the town offer by providing a vibrant space to local Artisans and those producing their own food. We also support and encourage new businesses with a sustainable model that are either fair trade or low carbon in their nature. To this group we offer the incentive of tables for a tenner for their first year of trading. We also very proudly Work alongside our partners at We Love Marlborough as well as the town council, local authority and Area Board to deliver the very successful annual Christmas Lights Switch On Night Market and celebrations.

Ellie here — call out to the Marlborough Communities Market crew…

I hope you’re all well — it’s been an age. I’ve been trying to get this page taken down for years but it turns out Facebook has very helpfully ignored me the entire time and today that feels like a very good thing.

Because I’m launching something new.

I’m creating something that’s not just a retail space, but a place for making — somewhere people can come together to create, run small sessions/workshops, share skills, test ideas, sit at a table and just make things. It’s still taking shape, but it’s getting close.

And it’s brought you guys to mind.

For those who remember those windy old Sundays, slightly chaotic but brilliant Christmas light switch-on nights and even Pop Shop Wiltshire, I still think about the quality of what you all brought — the craft, the care. You were always the gold standard.

So this is a bit of a feeler — if you ran a stall back then, or have something you make, teach, or want to share, I’d love to hear from you. Whether that’s running a session, collaborating, or just being part of it in some way.

It feels quite nice that this page is still here, actually….but maybe this will be when FB decides to finally do something about my ancient request and take it down so maybe send me a friend request to Ellie Leiper. It would be lovely to reconnect

Currently on a sourcing trip in India so photo for the algorithm 🤣
