A Derbyshire farm shop offering local produce, fresh baking and a standout butcher’s counter from Robin Maycocks Butchers and Bakery.

Essen General Store, Beeston, Nottinghamshire
A modern deli-café with superb cheese and charcuterie, natural wines, craft b**r and excellent sandwiches.

North's - Rothley, Leicestershire
A long-established village deli and outstanding patisserie packed with carefully chosen cheeses, charcuterie, wines, fresh produce and baked goods.

Origin Farm Shop, Rushton, Northamptonshire
A smart new farm shop with a good butchery counter and plenty of food and drink from independent producers across the region.

The winner will be revealed here on October 1.

👋 HELLO SOUTH WINGFIELD & SURROUNDING VILLAGES!

We thought it was about time we introduced ourselves properly to everyone in the group! 👋

Every Thursday, 8:30am–1:30pm, the South Wingfield Social Club is home to the Thursday Market — bringing together a small selection of independent local traders, quality produce and a bit of a traditional market feel right here on the doorstep. 🛍️

Here’s who you’ll find with us:

🥩 Robin Maycocks Butchers and Bakery
Traditional cuts, quality meats, fresh bakes, sausages and more.

🍎 Ricardo's Fruit and Veg
Fresh, local fruit and veg, great value and plenty of choice.

🌿 Foxgloves and Lilies
Beautiful plants, flowers and expert advice from fully trained florists.

🧁 Tasty Family Treats
Homemade cakes, sweet treats and plenty of reasons to put the kettle on! 😋

We’re really proud of what we’re building here. The idea is simple — good local traders, good quality products, friendly faces and a convenient place for the community to shop locally.

And like any local market, its future ultimately comes down to the people who use it.

We’d love to make the Thursday Market a long-term fixture in South Wingfield, but that only works if enough people come along, have a look around and support the traders who are making the effort to be there each week.

So whether you’re after your weekend meat, fresh fruit and veg, a new plant, some flowers, or simply fancy a wander and a chat with some local traders…

Thursday Market

We’ll be set up at South Wingfield Social Club as usual on Thursday from 8:30-13:00

Ricardo's Fruit and Veg, Robin Maycocks Butchers and Bakery and Tasty Family Bakes will all be there as usual.

No Foxgloves and Lilies this week but Karen will be back next week.

Just to remind our super loyal Tansley customers Derek will be with you from 8.15amish with a van full of mouth watering fayre. The ever consistent Rich 's Community Markets will be in attendance nice and early. Shaun's Fresh Fish & Fresh Seafood Direct Sales 07588451894 will arrive around 11.30am and stay for an hour. Quite bizzare on one of the hottest days of the year to be dreaming of 'All we want for Xmas is our road back open'. So why not celebrate this good news by having a bbq with 'Maycocks Meat' which can be purchased at 4 locations every week;
