Four-year-old Tommy loves shopping in our Ipswich store and always brings in his trusty toy Asda trolley so he can help his mum Stacey.

He comes in at least twice a week and is very well known to colleagues including the store's community champion Debbie, who always makes a big fuss of him. She said: "Tommy brings so much joy whenever he visits. With his bright smile and enthusiasm, he always brightens our day. As he gets ready to finish preschool and start primary school we wanted to celebrate what a wonderful young member of our community he is. During his latest visit, Tommy and I even took our trolleys for a little walk around the store together – me with my community champion trolley and Tommy with his own! It was a lovely moment and a reminder of how special our customers are to us."

Stacey said: "We use Scan and Go and he likes to be the one who does the scanning. We get lots of comments and smiles from people when he's pushing his little trolley. Everyone at the store is so friendly. He loves going shopping at Asda and has a toy till at home."

Our wonderful colleague Michaela is the toast of Asda Poole after managing to sort out more than 100 drinks glasses for a couple’s wedding.

Their original supplier had let them down so, with time running out, they called into our store and asked Michaela if she could help. She said: "They wanted champagne flutes, wine glasses and mixer tumblers – they'd got some but needed more than 100 more. With the deals we had on, they said it was cheaper for them to buy from us rather than them renting glasses elsewhere.

"Because the order was so big, I had to specially arrange for all the glasses to be sent to the store. When they arrived I got back in contact with the couple so they could collect them. They were both so lovely and very, very grateful for what I did – I was only too happy to help."

Michaela has now been nominated for an Asda service superstar award. Non food manager Scott said: "A big well done and thank you both from the customers and all of us at Poole store. Excellent customer service."

Home shopping driver Nick from our Benton store used the medical knowledge he gained during 36 years in the RAF to care for an elderly man who he spotted had collapsed in the street in the recent heatwave.

Nick was on his rounds in the Forest Hall area of Newcastle on one of the hottest days of the year when he saw the gentleman stumble and bang his head while using a walking frame. Nick safely pulled his van over, rushed to help him, and called 999. He did a quick assessment to check he hadn't broken any bones before moving him to the shade and getting him to sit up.

Nick, who joined Asda two years ago after retiring as a warrant officer, said: "I used water from the van to dowse him on his front and back and made sure he drank some too. The heat that was coming from his central core was not normal. I wrote on the bottles what time I dowsed him, and marked how much water he'd taken in too. We do this on the battlefield and in deserts. Due to the heat he was in and out of consciousness, but I kept talking to him and reassuring him. He was wearing a Newcastle United top and I mentioned I was from Manchester and that I supported Manchester City and we joked about football."

Nick phoned the store to arrange for a second driver to come and take over his deliveries while he stayed with the gentleman until the ambulance arrived and took him to hospital. Nick, who's been nominated for an Asda service superstar award, said: "Helping him was just the right thing to do. I like to go above and beyond for our customers. I get a lot out of my job and I love helping my community."

When a customer at our Charlton store who realised she'd forgotten her purse was about to head home so she could come back and pay for her shopping our colleague Denise stepped in to pay for it herself.

Denise said: "She only had a few bits, and it came to about £8. I don't normally have my card with me on the shop floor but I'd just had a break and it was in my pocket so I tapped it and paid for her. She was very, very grateful. It was a boiling hot day and I didn't want her to rush back home in the heat. She came in the next day and tried to give me the money back but I said 'no that's my good deed of the day.'"

Karlee, the store's community champion, said: "The customer said the level of customer service she received had made her whole week. Fab job at spreading kindness, Denise." Denise has been rewarded through Asda's internal recognition scheme to cover the cost of the shopping plus a little extra to thank her for her kindness.

Hollie and Lorrisa and their colleagues at our Leek supermarket have been thanked by the daughter of an elderly customer who visits the store every day for his daily paper and groceries.

She wrote to store manager John to say: "Whenever I speak to my dad on the phone he always tells me how kind they are and praises them to me about the help they provide. I visited him this week and your store too and saw this for myself. I am so grateful for the kindness they show and how friendly they are. Two name badges I saw were Lorrisa and Holly, although my dad said all staff were kind. It gives me some peace to know that there are people like your staff who make my Dad feel good by just a kind look, smile or friendly work."

Hollie and Lorrisa have both been nominated for Asda service superstar awards for their exceptional customer service. John said: "I'm so proud of the service you give to our customers, so natural and personable. You should know what an impact you have on our customers lives and be proud of yourself, you are absolute stars."

Twins Carol and Pauline have been putting smiles on customers' faces at our Ellesmere Port store for more than 30 years.

The 65-year-olds not only work together in our bakery department but also live next door to one another. They followed in the work footsteps of their late parents Margaret and Peter, who also worked at the store as a cleaner and a security colleague. Carol, who is half an hour younger than her sister, said: "It's safe to say that we do get on! It's really nice working together. We never get sick of each other. When we are in together we do try to have our breaks together.

"We've lived next door to each other for about 17 years. We do things on our days off and go on holiday together. We love our holidays; we've been all over and are going to Cyprus in September. We do sometimes think the same. When we are getting birthday cards for people, like our brother and nephews, I can go in one shop and get a card and Pauline will go in another shop and come out with the same one."

The store's community champion Adele said: "Having previously worked alongside them in the bakery for seven years, I can honestly say they are two of the loveliest colleagues. They always have a story to share and we all love hearing them. They’re just brilliant colleagues and a joy to work with."

When a customer couldn't find the right size denim jeans at our Burnley store, George colleague Leam drove to a nearby store on his way home to get her the pair she wanted.

GM and George Trading manager Andy said: "We didn't have the jeans the lady wanted in stock so Leam checked availability and found there were some at Asda Accrington. The lady didn't drive so Leam called there on his way home and got them for the lady. The customer was chuffed to bits. This was a typical Leam act – he always goes out of his way to help our customers."

We said a fond farewell to our wonderful bakery colleague Wendy who has retired after 47 years of dedicated service at Asda Morley.

From her very first day to her last shift, Wendy has been a truly valued part of our team – bringing warmth, hard work, and a friendly face to colleagues and customers. She joined Asda in June 1979 as a shop floor assistant, and over the years she has worked in a number of departments including produce, the customer restaurant and bakery.

Asda Morley community champion Annie said: "Wendy's commitment and loyalty over nearly five decades is nothing short of inspiring. She's made a lasting impact and will be deeply missed by everyone who’s had the pleasure of working with you."

Wendy is planning to started her retired life by enjoying a couple of months of well-deserved relaxation. Annie said: "Wendy has four grandchildren, with another one arriving in October, so she will have plenty to keep her busy. We all wish her a happy, relaxing, and well-deserved retirement – you’ve certainly earned it!"
