🍺 THE B**R SHELVES ARE LOOKING VERY, VERY GOOD! 🍺

We’ve had a brilliant restock at Fig & Fromage Deli, with the shelves AND the b**r fridge filled up again, plus a couple of rather special limited brews we’re very excited about.

First up, Cu***ng Through The Rye from Perthshire brewers Wasted Degrees. A special collaboration with Scottish actor Alan Cu***ng, celebrating his Scottish roots and connection to the area. Great name, great story and definitely one for Alan Cu***ng fans to get their hands on!

Then we have Abernyte Brewery celebrating an incredible 10 YEARS 🎉 with a special anniversary White IPA. Ten years of brewing just along the road from us absolutely deserves a b**r to mark the occasion. Congratulations guys! 🍺

We’ve also topped up Wasted Degrees, our local fellas at Coel Brew with their brilliant all gluten-free range, Glen Spean, Abernyte Brewery, plus plenty of the other Scottish favourites you already know and love.

Pop in, have a rummage through the shelves and build yourself a little Scottish b**r selection. There are some absolute crackers in there right now. 🍻

Well, this was a rather lovely thing to find today! 🥹🧀☕️

A huge thank you to Poppy Watson and The Courier for visiting Fig & Fromage Delicatessen and for such a wonderful review.

What made us happiest reading this wasn’t simply the lovely things said about the food, coffee and service. It was that Poppy seems to have found Fig & Fromage Delicatessen exactly as we hope every customer finds us.

Charming, welcoming, a little bit indulgent, shelves full of things you didn’t necessarily know you needed, great coffee, really good food, local produce, gifts to tempt you and plenty of cosy corners to sit and enjoy it all. ❤️

We also loved that Poppy picked up on the familiar feel between Fig & Fromage Delicatessen and our other shop, Provender Brown Delicatessen in Perth. They each have their own personality and history, but that warm, slightly eclectic, properly stocked deli feeling is something we absolutely want them to share.

When we opened Fig & Fromage Delicatessen in Newport-on-Tay in 2020, this is exactly what we hoped to create. Five years later, it still makes us ridiculously happy when someone walks through the door and gets it.

There were some particularly big smiles at the 5/5 for service and 5/5 for surroundings, because those things are every bit as important to us as what goes onto the plate. A massive thank you to Malcolm and our brilliant Fig team who make the deli what it is every single day.

And Poppy, we very much enjoyed the fact you needed Scott to appear before you spent too much money browsing the shelves. 😂 We know that feeling rather well!

🇬🇧 SUNDAY | GIVING BACK TO THE SPORT 🇬🇧

A couple of pictures of Ed doing what he does as often as life allows… training.

There are a LOT of hours going in behind the scenes as he prepares to represent Great Britain at the 2026 IPSC Sh***un World Shoot, and we’re incredibly proud of the commitment he’s putting into earning the right to wear that Team GB shirt. 🇬🇧

But today looks a little different.

Instead of competing, Ed is spending his Sunday as a Range Officer at a competition.

Something he feels really strongly about is giving back to the sport that has given him so much. Competitions simply couldn’t happen without the people who give up their own time to officiate, help, support and keep everything running safely.

So today the competition sh***un takes a little rest while Ed puts in the hours on the other side of the range.

Training when he can.
Competing when he can.
Volunteering when he can.

And quietly working towards that rather exciting moment when ED MURDOCH 🇬🇧 steps onto the world stage for Team GB.

We’ll keep taking you along for the journey.

Look at him, proud as punch! ❤️

Malcolm having a wee flick through Saturday’s Courier after being featured in a brilliant article celebrating the thriving High Street here in Newport-on-Tay.

Five years ago we took a chance and opened The Urban Grocery, with no idea where that little leap of faith would take us. Five years, plenty of changes and a move onwards to Fig & Fromage later, reading this made us stop and appreciate just how far we’ve come.

The article shines a spotlight on ourselves, Sutherland Hair & Beauty and The Newport Inn, but there are SO many more brilliant businesses that make Newport the vibrant wee place it is. Every one plays a part.

And then there are the people. ❤️

Our customers, community, fellow businesses, friends and family who have supported every idea, change, event and slightly mad adventure along the way.

Malcolm absolutely deserves his moment too. We couldn’t turn the key in the door seven days a week without him, or Safia, Rose, Isabella, Natalia, Clayr, Charley, Jude, Ava and of course Morag.

Plus our extended team behind the scenes taking care of all those things you might never see, but that we absolutely need to keep this little business ticking.

It takes a lot of people to make a little deli work, and a whole community to make a High Street thrive.

Newport has a pretty special one. ❤️

🥂 30 YEARS OF MALCOLM & MORAG! 🥂

A HUGE Fig & Fromage congratulations to our very own Malcolm & Morag, who are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary today! ❤️

Most of you will know Malcolm, our deli manager, who keeps Fig & Fromage running beautifully, knows just about everyone who walks through the door and, after his fabulous appearance in The Courier yesterday, is now basically a local celebrity. 😂

Quite simply, Malcolm is a legend and we genuinely couldn’t leave our business in more capable hands.

And then there’s lovely Morag, who is very much part of the Fig family too, running our Farmers’ Market days for us and representing Fig & Fromage out and about with that big smile of hers.

Thirty years married is definitely something worth celebrating, and judging by the two photos we’ve chosen for this post, they’ve clearly spent a fair amount of those 30 years laughing! 😂❤️

Happy Anniversary Malcolm & Morag! Here’s to the next 30 years of love, laughter and putting up with each other. 🥂🍾

ARE YOU GETTING ENOUGH OMEGA-3? 🐟

Spotted on the front cover of Which? magazine and it certainly caught our eye 👀

We all know those lovely omega-3 fatty acids are something we should be getting into our diets, and one of the tastiest ways to do it? Oily fish.

And, conveniently, we have a LOT of it at Fig & Fromage. 😂🐟

Our shelves are packed with beautiful tins from brilliant producers up and down the UK, as well as Italy and Spain. Sardines, mackerel and all sorts of delicious little tins just waiting to be cracked open.

Pile them onto good bread, add them to salads, serve with crackers, throw together a quick lunch or simply eat them straight from the tin. We won’t judge.

Good fats. Great flavours. Very little effort. Our kind of health food. 💛
