2016 trend❤️
The year my business really took off, I’d finished uni, gaining a 2.1 in fine art, then a teaching degree and then decided to go back into catering🤦🏽‍♀️ Anyways, my first business logo, which I loved! How I began baking, making all the desserts in my parent’s restaurant, my dad taught me everything about desserts and then cooking, we worked together every day up until about a year ago, it was the best, work never seemed like work.
I started celebration cakes, the stress over fondant cakes was a nightmare, I’m glad that’s in the past, trying to find my style, which didn’t suit me, I love being creative and having free rein, I can say that I’ve found my style now and love creating art on cakes.
I used to do all the markets and food festivals, with my Italian pick n mix biscuits, Italian doughnuts, cakes etc, I drew all my cake menus on chalk boards, and had my bestie working along side me, helping me with the market stalls and now still helping me with the restaurant❤️
2016 I started a blog - the pudding girl, named because a customer used to introduce me to her friends as the pudding girl from Donzella. I committed to it for about a year, I hardly ever shared it! I was too embarrassed and had no confidence (some things never change) but I loved sharing my recipes. My cake business really took off and I was over crowding my dad’s kitchen with cake stuff, so they turned an old room in the restaurant Into my cake room, which I loved and still love now! It’s my own little space❤️
In between all the work, my ever changing hair colours, going out every weekend, partying with friends and still being able to make it to work at 7! I used to spend a month in Italy at a time, I could NEVER take a months holiday now😭 I’d work a million hours, start at 5am and work until 11pm working on cakes, 2016 was a year before I opened the deli, I remember being called Lame by someone close to me for working too much and not having a life, but I loved work, and still do and I don’t regret working hard, because it’s got me to where I am now, 2016 was a good year❤️ #2016
