Harbwr Deli is turning 1 🎂

A year ago our family opened the café after a big career change from construction into hospitality.

It’s been a proper learning curve from the start, but opening Harbwr Deli has been one of the most rewarding things we’ve done.

Over the last year, the biggest thing we’ve noticed is how much the people make the place. Seeing familiar faces come through the door, having quick chats across the counter, and getting support from the local community has meant a lot to us.

We feel very lucky to be doing this in our hometown Porthcawl.

To celebrate our first birthday, we’re doing a giveaway 🎉

What a week it’s been. 😮‍💨

What started out as a 2/3 day closure to sort a leak on the far wall, lay *yet another* new floor (our third in less than a year), and make some improvements to our layout… very quickly turned into the discovery of Larry the leak’s even bigger mate Polly the puddle on the other side of the café… and our front door letting in the majority of the rain from the storm on Thursday night, among approximately 100 other things that went wrong!

Our patience, will and energy levels have been seriously tested this week but we’re back open and with only a few things left to do!

Thank you to everyone who has visited us this weekend, sent messages of love and support and offered to help us out this week!

We’re closing the doors for a few days from March 10th–12th… but only because something exciting is brewing 👀☕️

We’re making some alterations, carrying out essential work, and refreshing the layout to make your experience with us even better; all in time for the busy spring/summer season and as we get ready to celebrate our first anniversary since opening.

A short closure now means an even lovelier space to welcome you back into very soon.

So yes, we’ll miss you. Deeply. Dramatically. But we’ll be back, better than ever, on Friday, March 13th.

Thanks for bearing with us while we give the space a little glow-up.

Introducing… Our new menu: cosy season edition.

We’ve been grafting behind the scenes to bring you something special and thought it deserved its own post.

Our new menu is made for blustery Porthcawl days: Harbwr Artisan Breakfast and The Big Breakfast for hearty appetites; Harbwr Avo & Eggs and silky Eggs Benedict for slow seaside mornings; pancake stacks and smoothie bowls for the sweet-toothed.

Then settle into proper Welsh comfort with playful twists — a steaming bowl of Harbwr Cawl with scrocciatella sourdough for dunking, all-new toasted bagels stacked tall with mouth-watering fillings, fluffy oven-roasted jacket potatoes piled high with generous toppings, and freshly baked hand-finished pizzas for sharing (or not!).
