It has been brought to my attention that Mandy Ross who has applied for a licence to hold The Portlethen Market has been saying that John Burgess pocketed the takings from The Portlethen Market when it was held at The Green. To be clear the only takings that were collect was £120.00 which went to purchasing advertising posters which cost £140.00. The licence which cost £234.00 was not claimed or payment taken in any way and no charge was taken for the ground which is part of The Paddock lease. No fees have been taken since it started as The Green Portlethen Market it has been held to support the local community and stall traders and build a successful market. The PDCC has been invited on more than once to be part of The Green Portlethen Market, but we have never had a reply from the PDCC.
However, as the Portlethen and District Community Council and the Portlethen Town Association has made it clear they oppose The Green Portlethen Market and as stated in the Clockindighter they support The Portlethen Market what about local businesses, who support the local community daily.
The Green Portlethen Market will only continue if the local community wishes to support the local businesses and stall holders if they wish to attend.
Please share and let us know if you the public and stall holders wish to continue with The Green Portlethen Market on the last Sunday of the month or not.
