Spot the Robin in the Sloe Tree blossom.
We love Fairfield and have worked hard to encourage wildlife but it might all be under treat.
A planning application has been submitted for a 24hr Service Yard including storage, office, non-permeable lorry turning and a 23 strong LGV/HGV park including space for asphalt HotBox lorries. The plans sit on our boundary and could really impact Fairfield to the point it could not produce. Flood lights, trees positioned that would shade a large growing area rendering it useless, a huge increase on pollutants (inc diesel particulates), cutting in that could alter ground water levels, noise interference etc. There is not planned screening between Fairfield and the industrial site, nothing to protect it at all.
The plans are set on a Grade 2 Best and Most Versatile agriculture field which should not be used for development. There are agricultural holding calling out for additional agri land in our area yet a business want to undertake major development and turn it into an industrial unit even though there are other industrial site available to them.
I'm already well into succession planting but I'm not even sure I should continue because, if approved, the construction would wipe out this years crop under through contamination from dust and pollutants and displace all the wonderful biodiversity the site currently enjoys.
The local parish council meet this evening and the plans are on their agenda, that's set one for gauging if I continue. Let's see how that goes.
