Beautiful cavolo shoots in our no potato and veggie lover boxes this week! These are the almost flowering part of our cavolo plants - what a seasonal treat :)
As the first warming rays of spring wake the fields from their winter slumber, the cavolo nero plant is moving into its second year. Like most plants that have survived a winter, cavolo nero is eager to set
flower and produce seeds. With this vigorous new growth comes a plethora of tender and tasty shoots that for a brief moment in time are ripe for the picking. Over a four week period numerous
cavolo shoots can be gathered up and those that get missed⦠provide a welcome supply of nectar for the farms waking bees. Cavolo shoots treated simply or dressed up, quite simply taste great and provide variety when it is most needed for a diverse culinary world.
