And just like that holiday is over (for some of us! One of us is currently posting this from a sun lounger in Majorca ✈️☀️⛱️🏖️)

Autumn vibes had hit hard at Brandon’s market fresh this week with the arrival of some incredible autumnal produce. That rain has done us a world a good.
Look at those incredible crown price squash, sprouts and rainbow beets! The local cauli and cabbage is looking so much better than it was and amazing English Cox’s apples have started!
Don’t get us wrong, we’re in for a lean winter in the veg world but it’s definitely a bountiful cornucopia in stamford today.

This was 8.50 this morning.

😊 The GOOD news...
The British fruit season keeps rolling on, and this weekend we’re welcoming some fantastic new arrivals!
🍎 English Discovery apples
🍑 The first of the English Victoria plums
💚 English Greengages
🍏 New crop Bramley apples
💜 English Damsons..and our delicious English cherries are hanging on for a little while longer too! 🍒
😔 The BAD news...
It’s a much tougher story for English vegetables.
While our English runner beans are looking fantastic, and the first English purple sprouting broccoli has arrived looking really good, our brassica growers are having a difficult time.
You’ll notice we have no English cauliflower this week. The prolonged heat and lack of rainfall have taken a real toll on crops, and after speaking with several of our farmers, the outlook for brassicas over the coming months isn’t particularly encouraging.
As always, we’ll keep sourcing the very best produce we can and will be completely honest with you about what’s happening behind the scenes. Farming is at the mercy of the weather, and this season is proving just how challenging that can be.
