Hello!

We’re opening up the farm this Sunday for Open Farm Sunday and would love you to come along 😊

We’ll be open at Primrose Organic Produce, Lymburghs Farm, DT10 1HN from 10am to 4pm.

There will be a farm walk with Jim at 11am, a BBQ from 12pm, and a vegetable and chicken walk with Gilla at 2pm.

The farm shop and café will also be open, with hot drinks, cold drinks, refreshments, organic beer, wine and cider, plus fresh organic beef available in the shop.

It’s a friendly, informal day for all ages, with a chance to meet the team, have a wander, see what’s growing and learn more about organic farming here at Primrose.

Please wear suitable footwear for uneven ground and farm tracks.

☀️Mad dogs and Englishmen…. 😅

The farm animals have a fairly innate sense not to go out in the midday sun.

And we try and help them express their natural behaviours to keep cool:

🐑Letting the hedgerows grow and the trees survive gives the sheep and cattle natural shade.
🐗Providing a wallow for the pigs allows this heat sensitive species to bathe and having an older breed that is hairy protects them more from the sun. Plus their newly refurbished pig arc is super insulated.
🐓The chickens are in the orchard and have a raised house on wheels that they like to dust bathe under. And they self regulate by opening their wings.
🐕And Max knows exactly where to find shade. But is it time to stock doggy ice-cream??

With a fabulous Bank Holiday weather forecast why not fire up that bbq?

And with fresh mutton sausages, burgers and steaks in the shop from this Thursday, with a freshly picked Primrose salad, there is no better way to savour Dorset outdoors.

We will have the usual tasty range of organic meats and veg, plus barista coffee and homemade cake to tempt all palates.
