This year has been a challenging time for the bees. Not only did both colony lose the queen the weather has been against us.
Thankfully things have turned a corner. Both colony have managed to successfully produce new queen's which have now started to lay which is great.
Honey harvest is very low this year. We've only extracted 21lb of honey where other years its been 50 to 100lb by this time.
The very hot spring, then the colder wet weather have really put pay to alot of food around the area where our bees are, so honey production is low.
Hopefully the summer flowers from July onwards will be better for them.
