Well… we really weren’t expecting this. ❤️

When we put yesterday’s post up, it wasn’t to raise money or ask anyone for anything — it was quite literally an angry rant because we couldn’t believe what had happened! 😂

We certainly weren’t expecting the response it received.

We’ve had DMs from Canada and all over the world, alongside thousands and thousands of comments, shares and messages. We honestly haven’t even managed to read half of them yet, so please don’t think we’re ignoring you if we haven’t replied. We simply never expected our angry little rant to reach anything like this many people! 😂❤️

Among those messages, we’ve had hundreds of people asking if there’s somewhere they can donate or contribute towards the damage.

We didn’t set anything up because, if we’re completely honest, asking people for money just isn’t something we’re comfortable doing.

But then a local lad, Fraz, saw what had happened and very kindly took it upon himself to set up a GoFundMe for us.

He messaged us today asking if we’d share it and we actually felt a bit awkward doing so! 😂 But he’s gone to the time and effort of setting this up completely off his own back, and with so many of you asking if there was a way to help, it would feel incredibly ungrateful not to acknowledge and share what he’s done.

Unfortunately, we’ve also discovered even more damage today, including the bale pictured below, so we’re still working out exactly what we’re dealing with.

Please know there is absolutely NO expectation whatsoever for anybody to donate. Times are hard enough for everyone. A share, a comment, popping into the shop or simply sending us a kind message means just as much to us. ❤️

But for those of you who have been asking if there’s a way you can contribute, Fraz has now very kindly created one, and we’ll share his fundraiser below.

⚠️ NOT THE POST WE WANTED TO BE WRITING THIS MORNING ⚠️

After a week of us mostly posting about the heat and having to close early, unfortunately this morning’s post is a very different one.

At around 10pm last night, our son rang us after finding that someone had been down in the field where our sheep are kept.

The gate was WIDE OPEN.

This isn’t a gate that can simply blow open — it is normally bolted AND tied shut. Both had been undone and the gate left open.

Our sheep could very easily have wandered out onto the main road. The consequences of that don’t really need explaining. We could have lost animals, someone could have been injured, or far worse.

Thankfully our son spotted it before that happened.

A chain and padlock are now on today’s list of jobs — something we’ve never previously needed there. 🔒

Then there was the mess.

Despite the extreme heat, incredibly dry ground and the fire warnings we’ve all received, someone had decided having a BBQ in the field was a good idea — and then left their rubbish scattered around afterwards.

But unfortunately, it gets worse.

Someone also decided it would be “fun” to deliberately damage a number of our wrapped bales.

The photos on this post show just TWO of the damaged bales.

These aren’t little accidental tears in the plastic. As you can see, the wrapping has been ripped/cut open and the forage inside exposed and pulled out.

Those bales are our cattle’s winter food.

We spend months growing, making and storing that forage so our animals have food through the winter. Once the airtight wrapping is badly damaged, the contents can spoil.

We genuinely cannot understand what possesses somebody to enter someone else’s land, undo a secured livestock gate, leave it wide open, have a BBQ, leave rubbish everywhere and then deliberately damage a farmer’s winter feed.

A few minutes of somebody’s “fun” can have very real consequences for us, our animals and other people.

Our farm is our home, our workplace and our livelihood. It isn’t a playground.

If you were involved last night, or know who was, we’d strongly suggest you come and speak to us.

And to parents locally, please have a conversation with your youngsters about the consequences of entering farmland and interfering with livestock, gates, machinery or animal feed.

We’re incredibly lucky that last night ended with a phone call about an open gate rather than a phone call telling us our sheep were on the main road.

Please respect our farm, our animals and our livelihood. 🐑🐄🚜

Sorry folks, but we’re going to be closing the Shop at 2pm today.

Despite it supposedly being a little cooler today, it’s absolutely roasting in here again 🥵 and we’ve made the decision to call it a day a little earlier.

We’re open until 2PM, so pop down before then if you need anything! 🥩🥓🍰

☀️ EARLY CLOSING TODAY — 2PM ☀️

Due to the heat today, we’ll be closing the Farm Shop at 2pm.

As much as we love seeing you all, it is getting incredibly hot in here and with the fridges working overtime too, we’ve decided to call it a day a little earlier than usual! 🥵☀️

So if you need meat, sandwiches, cakes or anything else for the weekend, please pop in before 2pm today.

☀️🥵 WE’RE MELTING!! 🥵☀️CLOSING AT 2pm TODAY WEDNESDAY 12th

Just in case anyone thinks I’m being dramatic… 35.4°C in the back room — and that’s currently the COOLEST part of the shop! 😂🔥

The fridges are working absolute overtime trying to keep everything lovely and cold and the electric has decided it’s had enough too and keeps tripping 🙈😂

So a little heads-up that we WILL be closing at 2pm today — possibly a little earlier if the temperature keeps climbing or the electrics continue to struggle.

We’ve got the shutters closed to try and keep as much heat out as possible, BUT WE ARE OPEN! ❤️

All our chilled cakes including custard slices, raspberry cheesecake & lemon meringue are safely tucked away in the fridges — so please ask/come and have a look! 🍰

If you’re planning on popping in today, earlier is definitely better!

Now if anyone needs me, I’ll be Googling “how to run a farm shop from inside a paddling pool” 🤣💦🥵

Our homemade custard slices, raspberry cheesecake & lemon meringue are disappearing fast! 😍

❄️ Don’t forget — they’re all tucked away in the fridge keeping cool, along with plenty of our other cakes, so make sure you have a peek in there too!

☀️ And YES, WE ARE OPEN! ☀️
We’ve got the shutters closed today to keep the heat OUT 🥵😂 so don’t drive past thinking we’ve given up and gone home!
